There are a lot of wonderful things to love about kids from their resiliency to there innocence. Here are the top 10 things I love about kids in honor of Valentine’s Day.
#10-Resiliency: Kids are brave most of the time without even realizing it. They are not afraid to try something over and over again until they get it right. Adults sometimes lack this and are prone to giving up. A kid who falls off a sled into a snow mound is likely to keep attempting the sledding until the mound is cleared. An adult who falls off may be inclined to not try again. I love that kids are resilient.
#9-Fearlessness: I love that kids are fearless. Nothing scares them until we tell them they should be afraid of it. Kids will go into the dark woods with nothing but a flashlight and come out with a pocketful of snakes to bring home to dear old mom. This fearlessness is something moms dread but really it is a wonderful thing that kids possess. It is sad that some of us lose it as we get older.
#8-Laughter: I love kid laughter. It is open, honest and fresh. Each kid will have a unique laugh too. Some will guffaw, others giggle and some have hearty laughs. It would be a sad place if the laughter of children was not heard.
#7-Creativity: Give a kid a crayon, paper and a paper towel tube and you will get a telescope. Hand a kid a blanket to play with and soon you will have a fort in your house. I love how creative kids can be. Imaginations have no boundaries when you’re a kid. You can have a space ship in the middle of the street, a jungle made with snow and snowmen made of sand, all of which are completely normal to a young kid.
#6-No Shame: Kids are shameless creatures. They could care less that they are not supposed to run through the house (or anywhere else) butt naked. They are not ashamed of the bodies they have been given. I love that kids have no shame.
#5-Honesty: Kids very rarely know how to lie. Often they are so truthful it hurts. Open honesty is something I admire in kids.
#4-Freedom: I love the freedom that kids have to grow and learn. They are so open to new possibilities where as Adults we lose those freedoms. We get set in our ways or conform to the rules. Kids have the freedom to be kids.
#3-Ignorance: I love that kids are ignorant. Not in a bad way either. They don’t know hate until they are faced with it. They don’t know about money problems, health issues or racism. Ignorance really is bliss at the kid stage of life.
#2-Speech: Kid’s do say the funniest things. I love the complete innocence they show when stating a truthful fact that turns out to be not quite how it was intended.
#1-Unconditional Wells of Love: Kids are full of unconditional love that they are willing to share with anyone who will take the time to be with them. When you love a kid they will love you back no matter what your faults might be. That is the number thing I love about kids!
