I have watched every season of Survivor. There are really more than 10 things I love about Survivor, but I will only share 10 in no particular order.
Thing One About Survivor: Taking a Trip Without the Cost or Leaving My Home
I love to watch Survivor to see the scenery of what country they are going to. This way I can take a virtual trip without paying for the trip to another country. For instance, when they were in Gabon, Africa, I found the area they were in to be beautiful and learned a lot about the culture in that area.
Thing Two About Survivor: Challenges – The Games They Play
I love to watch Survivor to see what type of challenges they have to do for immunity and rewards. Those challenges look like they aren’t hard until you watch them do them. Only on TV does these challenges look simple. These games reminds me of the ones we use to do at camp at home for kicks and grins.
Thing Three About Survivor: Primitive Living Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up to Be
To see how normal people would react in a 30 plus day primitive camping scenario. Most of the people you see participating in Survivor have never camped in a tent or without a tent in an area that didn’t have electricity and running water. Let alone with just the clothes you have on your back. It surprises me what they wear to the first day of departure to where ever they are going. Very few people get a clue of what they should wear to Survivor once they have been chosen.
Thing Four About Survivor: Oh, The Drama!
To watch the drama unfold with these participants of who can and can’t handle living with a group of people they have never met. For those who have gone to college or deal with the public on a daily basis forget what it’s like to deal with people from different cultures and way of life. I find it rather amusing what people do when they are out of their comfort zone.
Thing Five About Survivor: Whose Your Daddy!
The young girls; okay for me they are young being in their 20’s. To watch them work their way into a guys “heart” to keep them in the game for the million bucks. Seriously, I know it’s the way they are playing the game, but watching them being so manipulative in getting what they want is actually rather funny.
Thing Six About Survivor: The Freak Out
Seeing who will freak out first on their tribe over the dumbest things can give me an idea who will go home before the rest. The freak out can be over who is or isn’t doing what, the animals (large or small), and just being away from their families. Sometimes the freak outs remind me of an “I Love Lucy” scene when she goes off half cocked on something and it all goes bad. The comedy of it all is just hilarious.
Thing Seven About Survivor: Build a Hut; Start a Fire
To start, I’m not a carpenter, but watching them try to build a hut reminds me of Laurel and Hardy being painters. The shelter building is basic, common sense that seems to escape people when it comes to making something as simple as this. I have this need to tell them how to build their hut. I’m sure some of you Survivor fans know what I’m talking about. Building a fire really isn’t as simple as it seems without a match, this I know. Just watching them discuss how to build a fire for three hours cracks me up.
Thing Eight About Survivor: No Guts; No Glory
Some of the challenges they have, takes some guts to do them. In one season, some of the things they had to eat for one of the challenges was just a bit gross even for me. In this case, you don’t eat it and swallow it you loose the challenge for the reward or immunity. Makes me wonder if they would really go that far in their every day normal life. You just can’t stop watching them do this.
Thing Nine About Survivor: This Isn’t My Reality.
Yes, Survivor is a reality show, but it’s not my reality. However, the reality of Survivor is it is addictive and just crazy to watch. Sometimes escaping your own reality with a game reality show can be done without endangering myself. That’s a favorable feature.
Thing Ten About Survivor: The Most Hated, The Most Loved, and The Winner.
Watching the whole season of Survivor to see if the person who you chose to win wins. There is always one contestant that becomes the most hated by the viewers and yourself. Then you have the contestant you just love.
These are 10 of the things I love to watch on Survivor. While it may seem I am picking on certain aspects of the show, these are the areas of the show that I do love.
