The 2008 American Music Awards performances were outstanding. However, as MyParkMag writes, two singers stood out. Natasha Bedingfield and Leona Lewis, both from the UK, showed off their stellar vocal skills.
As a long-time listener of both stars, this doesn’t surprise me. They each have a unique style and singing voice all their own. Leona Lewis has a soulful voice that could woo the crowds by belting out even a commercial ditty. Bedingfield also has amazing talent and would be able to make even a nursery rhyme sound like a hit song.
At the AMA’s Leona chose to captivate the concert audience with Better in Time, a beautiful song about trying to get over a lover that is no longer around. The message behind it is a positive one, looking to the future of moving on after losing a love.
Natasha was able to sing more than one selection at the ’08 AMA’s. The American Music Awards crowd was able to hear both a somewhat classic of Bedingfield’s (Unwritten) and the newer song Pocketful of Sunshine. The song Unwritten is about looking to the future with an open mind. Pocketful of Sunshine is about finding the positive, even when negativity is present.
One thing that I enjoy about both Natasha and Leona is that they are very positive-natured in their music and even in their lives, it seems. They also do not appear to fall victim to some of the negative trends in music, such as dressing scantily or getting involved in the drug scene.
McCall.com reports that Natasha Bedingfield even visited and performed for some young music students at their school recently. Says Bedingfield, “When I learned there were a lot of schools that didn’t have music education, I was shocked. Music is important to development in every way.”
Neither of these two stars won any ’08 AMA’s, but I feel they both deserved at least one. In fact, Leona Lewis has such a captivating voice that a report from Thaindian.com states she will be joining Beyonce and Jay-Z in singing at the inauguration of president-elect Obama on January 20, 2008.
Natasha has other good news according to People, who recently reported the announcement of her engagement to Matt Robinson. Bedingfield calls romance “the Viagra for women.” And reportedly, she is getting plenty of romance from her sweetheart. Awww.
Good luck ladies. Maybe next year you’ll both get that deserving AMA.
