Barack Obama holds the hopes of millions of beaten-down Americans in the palm of his hand. What he can do in 2009 or at least work towards to offer hope to the suddenly poor citizens of America?
2009 New Year’s Resolutions for Barack Obama
1. Focus on the middle class-
America’s middle class is being squeezed out. Everyone knows it but something must be done to remove power from giant corporations. Obama needs to be fearless and take them on whenever possible to shake loose some of their extra millions.
2. Help out the poor-
Obama was a community activist in Chicago and he needs to remember his roots. More community initiatives to provide basic services and perhaps beautification of neighborhood projects need to be undertaken.
3. Provide hope in the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict-
Enough of the BS. Obama needs to take the Palestinian cause seriously and stop pandering to the powerful Jewish interests in America. He needs to address the problem by being fair to both sides and offer serious solutions.
4. Address the problem of the Federal Reserve System-
This is a dangerous path to trek down but Obama needs to do what he can to help pave the way for a re-imagination of the way America prints and uses its paper money. The system is too unregulated and leads to poor distribution of wealth among US citizens.
5. Continue to have dialogue with the Middle East and get US out of Iraq-
As well as Afghanistan. The so-called “war on terror” cannot be won and will not be won, but anyone with an open mind who is willing to actually do some research behind turning on the TV should know that. We have to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan and Obama needs to continue talking with Middle Eastern countries and working out our differences diplomatically.
Additionally, Obama needs to undertake initiatives to actually educate the US populace about the region and it’s incredibly misunderstood citizens so the American public is not forced to continue to swallow the poisonous depictions of the region that are fed to them by the biased, sensationalized US media.
Good luck, Barack. And hopefully we can work towards having more than two candidates in the next election, although that probably makes a little too much sense to ever happen (but that doesn’t mean it can’t if more people take the time to inform themselves).
