Whether you live in New York or are just visiting over the President’s Day weekend, there are many things happening in the city worthy of your partaking. Here are just a few of the fun and interesting events you may like to enjoy this year.
McSorley’s Old Ale House, a great little pub in that is one of New York’s oldest is holding their annual birthday during President’s Day weekend. This pub, established in 1864, is very unique and not for everyone but it’s birthday bash is usually a fun experience for anyone of legal drinking age.
When you go to McSorley’s Old Ale House don’t expect the new millennium. This place prides itself in it’s name of an “old ale house”. It is an amazing old wood building with details through and through from before the turn of the century. From every haunting painting to the sawdust that is actually spread on the floor daily this place is quite the pub.
It wouldn’t be my everyday choice but it’s fun for a nice change on President’s Day weekend. Although sometimes the line for drinks at this place is out the door and I would suspect their birthday bash would entitle nothing less.
One more tip before you walk in there and look like a classy drinker remember this is McSorley’s Old Ale House and that means they only serve 2 beers, light and dark. So don’t expect to get a Guinness or Stella Artois in this pub.
You can locate McSorley’s Old Ale House at 15 East 7th Street New York, NY. You can also check out this old ale pub online at McSorley’s Old Ale House.
Another great activity do do well you are in town over the President’s Day weekend is to attend the New York Sword Dance Festival. The Half Moon Sword team consisting of many different women all with a love of martial arts, and a love for swords gather to display a stunning performance of power and beauty.
Keep your eye out for times and locations of performance in the newspaper and online. Definite schedule is not for sure yet but will be posted very soon.
One more activity you can partake in this President’s Day in New York City that is suitable for people both visiting and people who live in New York is to take a day and go to the world famous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Met is featuring Met Holiday Monday on President’s Day to where you can see the Met’s special exhibits at no additional charge. So see all the Metropolitan Museum of Art has to offer on President’s Day because there are no excuses today!
