Looking back on this year, financially, is not a pretty picture. But onwards and upwards, eh? With a positive look towards tomorrow and your big gains in the year pending, it’s a wise idea to put together an investment portfolio for the new year. With that idea in mind, you may decide you want to live nearby your money. There is a fool’s choice for luxury buildings in Lower Manhattan (any fool with a lot of money has their choice) and with your anticipated gains in the pending year, you should make your selection carefully. However there are a few properties which stand out so it’s with that knowledge that I’ve compiled my own very rough list of a few different properties for the wealthy Wall Street Investor to rent in the New Year.
As part of the coveted neighborhood known as Battery Park City, Gateway Plaza is a great place for families to live and aspiring families to take root. Located on South End Avenue, overlooking the Hudson River, Gateway Plaza has been in existence since 1983. Newbies to the city will actually be interested to know that Gateway Plaza was “the first residential development in Battery Park City.” It features six towers, over 1,700 apartments and a variety of professional and retail tenants. Gateway Plaza also has an elevator, full time doorman, laundry, gym/fitness center, swimming pool, steam room, sauna, full service garage, garden, playground, whirlpool, and on site leasing and management office. Folks will be pleased to know that there’s also a live in super and Gateway Plaza lives up to its name as they are a gated, secured entry community.
If your aims are more elemental and are looking for something a little more stunning, why not try the lofts at 90 W? More modern in look and exclusive in detail the 27 floors at 90 W represent “The Loft Style” featuring inspired panoramas in their oversized windows, gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, maple cabinets, and granite countertops and floors, deco style baths, thirteen foot ceilings, and so much more. The apartments at 90 W are not cheap; this is good though in that it can make you that much more inclined to keep raking in the big dough.
Le Rivage has a little bit of everything for everyone. Built in 1926 and remodeled in the 1980’s this compelling property is amazing. With fantastic amenities and classic Art Deco styling, residents at Le Rivage really can’t go wrong. Located on West Street, just north of Battery Park proper and just across the way from Battery Park City you’re at the nexus of the world’s financial markets and the birthplace of America when you rent at Le Rivage.
With your assumed gains in the New Year, you may decide that you want to go ahead and buy, but my caution is twofold. A lease is a year over year event and even if all your lucrative gains are recouped in 2009 from your massive losses in 2008, who knows what 2010 will look like. Also, it’s wise to recall the mortgage meltdown which precipitated all this mess in the first place. So rent in this fortuitous year and seize the day in the only way you know how; in a lap of luxury at one of these, or some other luxurious rental residence.
