Homework is one of those dreaded things that both the child and parent don’t usually look forward to. Here are four methods on How to get homework completed without arguments.
Wake up early
You will both be more alert doing homework in the morning than late at night. You will be more refreshed in the morning and able to think more clearly in the morning. Late at night you are tired and your mind doesn’t work as fast or good enough. Make sure to wake up a hour or so earlier depending upon how much homework needs to be done.
Only do homework a few hours after dinner
Both of you need to unwind after working on homework for a few hours after eating dinner. A few hours of working on homework will exhaust you out and make you want to relax for a little while. Perhaps watch a favorite TV show to help you relax. Eat some ice cream as a little snack before going to bed. Don’t overwhelm yourself with homework. You want your mind relaxed when you go to bed instead of racing due to working on homework too late.
Do the easy problems only after dinner time
You don’t want to get stressed out before bed so just make sure to do the easy part of the homework before then. Make sure to skip the difficult homework to figure out the solution to the easy homework instead. You don’t want to get overwhelmed or upset due to the math problem not working out right with the correct answer. Make sure that your child knows what he or she can handle each night on homework. You don’t want them to be upset or overwhelmed due to not knowing how to complete all the homework after dinner. Explain to the child that he or she will finish the homework early in the morning.
Go to bed early
If you are going to get up earlier then you need to go to bed a hour or so sooner. It will be easier for you to wake up in the morning to help your child with the homework. You don’t want to be cranky in the morning. Make sure that your child goes to bed early too otherwise he or she won’t feel like working on homework either.
Advantages of Homework
Homework is important to do since it enables your child to do better on tests that are given to them on a regular basis. Homework lets you know if your child knows the material or not that is being taught to them. One other thing about homework is your child can possibly get extra credit for doing more homework or a few more assignments here and there.
