What is a Fad Diet? A fad diet is basically a diet that becomes extremely popular in a short period of time, but the sad part about fad diets is most of them are very unhealthy. Don’t get me wrong though some of the fad diets actually do work, are pretty healthy, and you will lose weight. The big question is what are the most popular fad diets of 2008? There are actually quite a few fad diets this year that have become quite popular and are still going strong like The Mediterranean Diet, South Beach Diet, Zone Diet, Prevention’s Flat Belly Diet and even the poor old jenny Craig Diet, which has been out for years. Then you have the latest Fad Diet like the Japanese morning banana Diet, which is a crazy fad Diet where you eat bananas 3 times a day amazingly this diet actually does work the first week of trying it. Are they all just a fad? Are all Fad diets bad for your health? No, just because the word Fad is in the diet name this does not mean the diet isn’t healthy or you won’t lose weight. How do these Fad diet work? Here is a quick run down of 2008 Most Popular fad diets that I feel are still growing in popularity.
1. Japanese Morning Banana Diet
What is The Japanese Morning Banana Diet? This is the latest Diet Fad that has become extremely popular within a few weeks after a Japanese singer claimed she has lost over 15 pounds in less than 2 months by eating bananas. Who would have thought by eating bananas all day long you would lose weight? After trying out the Banana Diet myself and having one of my hair clients put this diet to a test the results were very surprising. I lost 2 ½ pounds on the Banana Diet in 5 days and my customer lost 5 ½ pounds in 7 days.
What do you eat on The Japanese Morning Banana Diet? That’s simple 2-3 bananas for breakfast along with 2 eight ounce cups of room temperature water, light lunch, banana for snack, light dinner, 4-5 more cups of water and don’t eat after 6:00 P.M.

2. Prevention’s Flat Belly Diet
What is The Prevention’s Flat Belly Diet? This diet you MUST contain a MUFA monounsaturated fat at each meal and try to eat 4 meals a day consisting of 400 calories. The main key is the MUFA, which can be olive oil, nuts, sunflower seeds, or even dark chocolate.
What do you eat on The Flat Belly Diet? You can have lean meats, yogurt, veggies, Brown rice, baked potatoes, fruits and more, but you must add a MUFA to each meal.
Do I feel this diet will continue to be popular? Yes, this diet helps control your hunger cravings, allows you to eat great foods, and lowers bad cholesterol while losing weight.
3. 3 Day Diet
What is The 3 Day diet? The 3 Day Diet has many different names like 3 Day Detox Diet, 3 Day Navy Diet, 3 Day Tuna Diet it’s all the same diet in reality. This 3 Day diet allows you 3 meals which consist of 600 calories per meal containing carbohydrates.
What can you eat on The 3 Day Diet? This diet allows you to eat fruits, vegetables, ice cream, hotdogs, and even Black coffee for your beverage.
Do I feel this diet will continue to be popular or fad out? A diet that slows your metabolism, makes you feel sluggish, very low calories, might or might not stay popular hard to tell what other people will do.
4. The Zone Diet
What is The Zone Diet? The Zone Diet is still one of today’s most popular diets. Maybe because hot celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore have lost weight on this diet. The Zone Diet allows you 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, and 30% fat. Basically it’s a low-carb diet almost similar to The Atkins Diet.
What can you eat on The Zone Diet? You can have vegetables, lentils, beans, fruits, small portions of meat, dry cereal, low fat cheese, low fat milk, nuts, and basically any food you want as long as you stay in your percentage rate.
Do I feel this diet will continue to be popular? Yes, any diet where you can eat whatever you want and lose weight people all over the world look for diets like this.
