5 Tips for Writing Quality Music

by yup tab

There’s no patented formula for writing great composition pieces, but there are some procedures you can follow that will help to guide you in the right direction. I will give you 5 tips that will help you organize your writing skills and complete the task of writing a quality piece of music from beginning to finish.

The first thing you need to do is focus on a topic that you want to write about. Then think to yourself what words do you want to emphasize. After you think of a great hook, you need to actually write down these lyrics of your song on paper. I say this because many people feel as though they can remember the lyrics in their head and just write them when they get to the recording studio. This is the wrong approach when writing lyrics because by doing this , you don’t give the words room to breathe. When composing a song, you should write it down and leave it alone for a while. After your brain has had time rest, you should come back to your composition in order to critique edit and revise it. You should also let someone look over your composition to give you a second opinion.

The second thing you need to do is listen to other composers and learn from their success and mistakes. Hands on learning is the best teacher of all. You can listen to other pieces of work and pick out the similarities and differences that your work contains. Sometimes this is a good thing use a topic that touches your own heart. You want your song to be catchy but you also want people to feel something when they hear it. Songs that play on the emotions of people are always great tools of inspiration.

The third thing he should do his arm yourself with the appropriate music production tools. This means finding the correct software that will compliment your musical needs. There are hundreds of different software products on the market, so choose one that has the most comfortable layout for you.

The fourth thing you can do is take a break from the actual studio setting. A lot of people get so wrapped up in writing a song, they begin to force something to come to their mind. For me, this always leads to disaster. Go out to the theater and watch a movie. Go to the mall and just walk around. Go to the park and watch the birds fly across the sky. All of these things will give your mind a chance to relax and hopefully give you a chance to catch some sort of inspiration.

This leads to my next tip. You need to have fun. If you follow the careers of some very successful composers, you will notice that the best music they make is usually at the beginning of the their careers. When they are asked what make them throw in the towel, most of their replies revolve around their loss of passion for music or the music industry as a whole. Before signing any of your song’s right over, make sure you understand that you need to be educated about the laws and terminologies of the music world. Copyright your music and get a lawyer to look over any contracts that you are thinking about signing.

The last thing you need to do, and I know that this is more than five, but you need to practice. I was always told that practice makes perfect, but it also makes money. No matter how talented you are, production clarity and quality are expected when submitting content on the professional level. You may have a number one hit sitting in your studio but if you don’t take time to learn to appropriate skills and procedures, you will never get a chance to hear that song played on the radio or seen on the top of the charts. Also set goals for yourself that you work toward every day. If you work hard, you will be rewarded but remember that success is not equated to a dollar sign. May all your musical dreams come true.
