I love baked beans and I have tried many different varieties, flavors and brands over the years. I recently purchased a large can of Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans. This item was on sale at my local grocery store. The “high in fiber” ad on the front of this product got my attention. Here is what I discovered!
Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans are priced competitively, in my opinion. I purchased this product on sale but, even when it is not on sale, these baked beans are very affordable. They are not the cheapest brand but, there are other brands that are more expensive. I got a very large twenty-eight ounce can for well under two dollars. There are six servings in this can and I considered that to be a decent bargain and pretty budget friendly, overall. Van Camp’s is a name brand that I trust and it usually delivers high quality food products, in my experience. This brand has been around since 1861. That is a long time!
These baked beans are also available in original and home style versions. The hickory and bacon flavor of these beans tempted me. I love both bacon and hickory flavor in my baked beans. Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans have bacon, brown sugar and natural hickory flavor in them. They also contain molasses and onion seasoning. All of that sounded very good to me. I am a long time fan of Van Camp’s pork and beans. I couldn’t wait to try Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans and write a product review about them. They sounded like a dish that I would like!
I discovered that you can prepare Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans in a sauce pan on the stove top or microwave them. If you microwave these baked beans, you must pour them into a microwave safe container and cover. Then, heat on high for around three minutes. You must stir before serving! I chose to prepare this dish on the stove top, in a sauce pan. I emptied the contents into a sauce pan and heated over medium heat until hot. You must stir this product during cooking on the stove top. These baked beans smelled great! The preparation of them was easy and fast. When I tried Van Camp’s Hickory & Bacon Baked Beans, I was delighted! They have a wonderful hickory flavor that is delicious! They also have bacon, cured with water, in them. While there was not a large amount of bacon in these baked beans, the bacon flavor was great and very enjoyable. The brown sugar gives these beans a great taste!
