I stayed at the Sun Palace Resort in Cancun for a week from June 23rd to June 30th, 2008. This trip was for my Honeymoon. I did a lot of research while trying to figure out where to go. My wife took care of most of the wedding plans, and I had the responsibility of picking out the Honeymoon and paying for it. I surprised her with where we were going. She had no idea until after we were married. We flew Monday to Monday and it was pretty quiet in the airports we stayed in.
The Sun Palace Resort was amazing. They met our every need, and when we left notes asking for things, they fulfilled our requests. When we got their, they greeted us with a welcoming drink and a towel (it was June so it was HOT). They were very polite and quick at the front desk. We got into our room and were so amazed. We were on the first floor, with a hot tub, and a very comfortable King sized bed. There was a balcony with two chairs and a table, and we did a lot of relazing out there, enjoying the amazing view of the ocean. With the glass door closed, you could still hear the ocean, and it was extremely peaceful. The room had a mini fridge, and they restocked it often. They had 4 different types of alcohol for your enjoyment in the room, which they also refilled if you drank it all!
I thought the food was very good, but I am not picky and was not looking for amazign gourmet at the buffet. They had a breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet, and my wife and I left the buffet’s pleasantly full each time. They seemed to be able to meet everyone’s tastes. They also had 24-hour room service which still served burgers, salads, sandwhiches, and desserts even after Midnight. They were very quick and very polite.
The beach was extremely clean, and Sun Palace still had a lot of beach behind their hotel. The drink service on the beach was great as well. We were able to witness a sea turtle laying it’s eggs on the beach three different nights that we were there.
The hotel is a fifteen to twenty minute bus ride from the heart of Cancun with all of the bars and shopping. The bus cost maybe 50 cents or so each trip, and they run by all of the hotels quite often. Like I said before, it is quiet at the hotel if you want quiet, their are parties there if you would like to party, and you are also able to use the facilities at any of the other Palace Resorts in Cancun, and even Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres was a fantastic trip. You take a ferry to the island, and then you go rent a golf cart or sccoter and for about 40 dollars, you can have it for the whole day. You can go sit on the beach, go shopping, go to the bars, and even go to the Isla Mujeres Palace Resort and use their pools, restaurants, and other facilities. It is like a home away from home, and was an amazing benefit of staying with Palace Resorts. The shops carry a wide variety of things, including batteries, playing cards, food, souveneirs that you would find at the local shops, and feminine products.
This resort was absolutely amazing. The staff did not expect tips, but were very appreciative when you tipped them. We tipped at every meal, and for every service. It was worth the money, and we had an amazing Honeymoon.
