I think Jim Carrey is the funniest man alive. He has been in many of my favorite movies like The Truman Show, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, and When Nature Calls. I The first time I saw him perform was in the TV show In Living Color. He was instantly a great comedian. I especially loved his sketches as Fire Marshall Bill. He was so unforgettable in The Cable Guy, Me, Myself & Irene, and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Batman Forever. His filmography is extensive, as he been in many films. He is a fabulous actor and we all know that his star is one of the shinest out there! Below, I will be spotlighting Jim Carrey’s personal life, career, awards and nominations, and filmography. It is safe to say that Jim Carrey has been successful and will continue to be as long as he desires to be in the entertainment industry.
Jim Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, in January 17, 1962. His birth name is James Eugene Redmond Carrey. His mother is Kathleen oram, a homemaker, his father is Percy Carrey, a musician and accountant. He has three siblinngs, who are older than he is. His siblings include Patricia, rita, and John. His family raised the children as Catholics. Jim attended Blessed Trinity Catholic School in North New York for two years before he enrolled at Agincourt Collegiate Institute. His final high school years were spent at Northview Heights Secondary School. Carrey alo lived in Burlington, Ontario, for eight years where he attended Aldershot High School.
Jim has been married two times. First he married Melissa Wormer, an actor and Comedy Store waitress, with whom he had a baby girl names Jane Erin Carrey. Jane was born September 6, 1987 in the county of Los Angeles. Jim and Melissa married March 28, 1987, and were divorced late 1995. They two had become separated in 1994, at which time he began dating Lauren Holly, who was also his co-star on the film Dumb and Dumber. In 1996 Jim and Lauren married. The marriage lasted less than one year. It was then that he and Renee Zellweger met on the set of Me, Myself, & Irene. Their engagement ended at the end of the year in 2000. He also had dated his massage therapist and Anne Bing (a model). It wasn’t until June 2006, that he and Jenny McCarthy made their relationship public. In 2008 the two admitted that they are now living together, but that they had no desire to marry and that they needed no piece of pape to declare their love. This revelation was revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, April 2, 2008.
Jim is also a vegetarian. His favorite band is Cannibal Corpse, who made an appearance in Ace Ventura.
Jim has also drawn attention to important causes like the political suppression in Burma and Autism.
Jim got his start in 1979, doing stand-up comedy at Yuk Yuk’s in Toronto. He became the headline act in 1981, right after his 19th birthday. A reviewer for Toronto Star raved that Carrey was a “genuine star coming to life”. It was the 80s when Jim moved to Los Angeles and bgan working at The Comedy Store. It was there that he was noticed by comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Dangerfield liked the performance so much that Carrey was signed to open Dangerfield’s tour.
After that Jim focused pm the television and film industries. In the 1980-81 season, he auditioned for Saturday Night Live. He was not chosen for the show, but he did get to host the SNL in May of 1996.
His first lead role on TV was in Duck Factory, that aired from April 12, 1984 – July 11, 1984.
Jim began work in smaller film and TV roles, this eventually led to a friendship with Damon Wayans, who co-starred with jim in Earth Girls Are easy, in 1989. Keegan Wayans had began developing a sketch comedy called In Living Color. Carrey was of course hired as a cast member. One of the unsusual cahracters that was developed was that of Fire Marshall Bill. His antics quickly brought him attention from Hollywood.
Jim has won numerous awards and nominations including Golden Globe Awards for his performance in The Mask, Liar Liar, The Truman Show (won), Man on the Moon (won), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2001), and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
He has also won and or been nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTA Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and MTV Movie Awards.
