The Asheville Police Blotter Report is generated to provide the Asheville community and surrounding areas with arrests and crime related activities as they happen in order to keep the citizens of Asheville informed. The Asheville Police Blotter Report will also detail actions of the Asheville Police Department in regard to their efforts of investigating, disseminating information and other means of reducing criminal activity for the citizens of Asheville.
First-Degree Burglary at Apartment on Unaka Avenue (Occurred January 14, 2009) – Asheville Police Blotter
A man reported to officers with the Asheville Police that shortly before 11:00 p.m., as he was knocking on an apartment door, an unknown suspect approached him and put a gun to his head. While held at gunpoint, another suspect took the victims cell phone, an undisclosed amount of cash, and car keys. As the door to the apartment opened, both suspects pushed their way inside the apartment, knocking the victim to the floor. While inside the residence, the suspects took a computer, telephone equipment, and a rifle.
Prior to leaving the scene, one suspect hit the female victim. The suspects then left the scene in the car belonging to the victims. Both victims were treated and released for minor injuries. Neither victims were able to describe the suspects other than one of the suspects appeared to be Caucasian. The stolen vehicle was recovered the following day at 1141 Tunnel Road.

Man Offers a Ride, Then Robs at Gunpoint (Occurred January 14, 2009) – Asheville Police Blotter
At approximately 12:45 a.m. as a man was walking down the street near 495 Haywood Road, a vehicle pulled up beside of him, whereby the driver offered him a ride. When the man got into the vehicle, the driver then pulled out a handgun and demanded his wallet. The victim handed his wallet over to the driver and exited the car, unharmed. The suspect is described as a black male with a scar on the right side of his face. He is estimated to be 36 -44 years old. The vehicle is described as a black, dated GM, with dark tinted windows.
Armed Robbery at Convenience Store Off Sardis Road (Occurred January 13, 2009) – Asheville Police Blotter
Between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. a man entered a convenience store at 491 Sardis Road, approached the counter, showed a handgun to the clerk and demanded money. The suspect left the store on foot and is described as approximately 5′ 10″ tall, black or Hispanic male with a dark mustache, wearing a dark toboggan and dark blue coat. No injuries were reported.
