Baking soda works well as an exfoliant and facial cleanser. Baking soda’s neutralizing properties may reduce redness of the skin, which reduces the appearance of acne. Baking soda will also soften skin if it is added to a bath or foot soak.
Only make as much as you need for one treatment, unless otherwise instructed. These recipes do not contain chemicals to prevent the natural ingredients from souring.
Baking Soda Acne Treatment
Mix a small amount of baking soda with water to form a paste. Apply to face. Gently massage the paste into your skin for 30 seconds. Rinse with warm water. Use up to three times per week.
Baking Soda Bath Oil
4 T baking soda
8 oz honey
16 oz milk
16 T salt (sea or table)
4 oz baby oil
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients except oil. Pour the mixture into a warm bath and add oil.
Baking Soda Acne Mask
Combine baking soda and water to form a thick paste. Apply to acne. Leave on for 5-10 minutes up to overnight. Rinse well.
Baking Soda Toothpaste
1 c baking soda
1/3 c salt
3 t glycerin, optional
Peppermint or other essential oil, to taste
Combine baking soda and salt. Add the glycerin and mix well. Add a few drops of peppermint oil. For fun, you can add a few drops of food coloring.
Baking Soda Build Up Removing Shampoo
Add ½ t to your regular shampoo. Shampoo, rinse, rinse, and condition as usual.
Baking Soda Nail Treatment
Apply baking soda to your nailbrush. Scrub nails as usual. It will soften the cuticles and brighten the white tips of finger and toenails.
Baking Soda Foot Bath & Treatment
2 t baking soda
1 T salt
Mix dry ingredients in hot water. Soak your feet for 20 minutes. Then combine a paste of baking soda and water and apply to feet in a circular motion to exfoliate and soften feet and skin.
