The Axton Road Bed and Breakfast is located at 5775 Schickler Lane in Bellingham, Washington. The hosts are Mr. Sandy Lawrence and Ms. Barbara Schickler. The bed and breakfast cater to travelers that are coming from or going to Alaska on the ferry, students and vacationers that find the scenic mountains a wonderful place to visit. The Axton sits on twenty acres and offers photo opportunities in each direction one looks. The gorgeous rooms all offer a cozy, hometown feel with modern amenities.
The house on the property, which includes the bed and breakfast, dedicates the upstairs to its guests. The home’s top floor consists of three rooms and two shared bathrooms for guests. The property also includes goats, many different kinds of wildlife, a couple of dogs and gardens galore. The bed and breakfast is pet-friendly, but only if you keep your pet outdoors. They provide your animal a secluded part of the kennel that their own dogs are in, to accommodate your animal.
Breakfast is served in the morning between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. or by request. The hosts incorporate what they grew into your morning meal during the summer and fall months. If you are interested in gardening, there are many vegetable gardens and an orchard and a vineyard to explore.
The Axton Road B&B is unique in many ways. The property produces its own electricity, which is enough to accommodate the rental homes and bed and breakfast on the property. With the electricity and gardening, this property is well on its way to being a green and organic lovers paradise. If you enjoy hiking, there are plenty of trails and walking paths to enjoy a morning of photography or a relaxing jog after your healthy breakfast.
The Axton’s three guest rooms include Cherry, Maple and Oak rooms. These rooms are all similar in size and are decorated with the kind of wood that matches the rooms name. All of the rooms have wonderful views of the property or the mountains and offer beautifully framed windows to look out of. The Cherry Room, has a wonderful sleigh bed at the center of the room, with a cherry night stand and an old-fashioned mirror on each side of the bed. The room is finished off with two comfortable wicker chairs and a cherry dresser and armoire. The Axton Road offers a beautiful Oak Room for those who enjoy mission style, furnishings. The oak furniture includes a bed with a unique headboard, a writing desk and a chair-bed that can accommodate a small child or avid reader well. The windows in the oak room are beautiful and all seem to have their own unique scenes to enjoy. The Maple Room features a floral quilt, a quilt rack and a beautiful small blanket trunk at the end of the maple bed. This room has two wicker chairs, a wicker coffee table and lots of homely art on the walls.
Your stay includes use of the wireless internet, a common TV, a beautiful common library and an exercise area on the property. Children are welcome and you are charged an additional small fee for each child. Out of the three rooms, two are set up to accommodate a child, in addition to two adults sharing a bed. The two bathrooms are sufficient, modern and lovely. The hosts request that reservations be made, and do not accommodate drop-in guests.
