Every car enthusiast loves a great car show, but there are some car shows that every automobile buff must attend during 2009. The year 2009 appears to be a great year for car shows, because new technology and advancements are more remarkable than ever before. The upgrades to current models will amaze novices and experts alike. There are several shows that you must put on your list for 2009, because to miss any of these shows is like trying to run your engine without oil – – you will feel awful and will end up regretting it in the end.
The first major car show, the North American International Auto Show, is a must see for 2009. This year’s show will be held at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan, which is conveniently located in downtown Detroit and is accessible by the Detroit People Mover, making this location convenient to shops, restaurants and hotels. The dates for the NAIAS Show are as follows: Press Preview January 11-13, 2009; Industry preview January 14-15, 2009; Charity Preview January 16, 2009; and, Public Show January 17-25, 2009. The Doobie Brothers will perform exclusively for Charity Preview attendees while the Jonas Brother will hold a special concert to benefit local children’s charities this year. Some of the highlights for this year’s show are: The 8th Annual Michelin Challenge Design competition, The AutoShow EyesOn Design Awards and the debut of a battery electric vehicle concept by Toyota. When attending the Public Show days, do not forget to include Auto Racing Day to try out a racing simulator or meet your favorite NASCAR drivers and the Automotive Education Day where students can learn more about careers in the automotive industry and meet leading industry specialists to discuss careers, education and goals. The 2009 NAIAS is going to be the first show that everyone will want to attend this year.
If you want to combine politics, environmentally positive cars and the latest in automotive technology, then you must attend The Washington Auto Show from February 4, 2009 through February 8, 2009. The exhibits are being held at the Washington Convention Center and are expected to be the best to date on Green Cars and cutting-edge technology. This auto show does a terrific job of combining policy with automotives so that attendees not only see great new vehicles but also learn about the automotive industry, economy and environmental issues related to the automotive industry. Events scheduled for this year’s show include: the Green Car Summit, Public Policy Day, an economic discussion on the economy’s impact on the automobile industry as well as a lively game show sponsored by AutoTrader.com. I urge all who are automobile enthusiasts as well as politically active to attend this year’s show in Washington.
Coming soon after the NAIAS, The Cleveland Auto Show is preparing to be even bigger and better than the 2008 show with better events and attractions for everyone. The show is being held at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio beginning on February 27, 2009 and running through Sunday, March 8, 2009. I encourage you to visit their website to read about all of the events and attractions but I will highlight some of the best for you here. The 10th Annual Cleveland Auto Show “Night of Lights” Charity Gala is on Friday, February 27, 2009 and the public is invited. This charity gala will benefit several charities and will be a wonderful event to kick off the Cleveland show with an exclusive premier of the 2009 show and Vegas style gaming. There are several ride & drives (Mitsubishi, Kia, Chrysler and Jeep) but a must is the Toyota Off Road Adventure – – this is a must do event for those who love off-roading – check out the video and the detailed information to schedule your adventure. The show will introduce many concept and new vehicles as well as new automotive technology that will update attendees on the new discoveries and trends. Also not to be missed will be NASCAR Day, Browns Day, the Vehicle Safety Conference and the Classic Car Show.
The New York International Auto Show will be held in 2009 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, New York beginning on April 10, 2009 and running through April 19, 2009. Maybe the best reason to make sure that you attend this car show is that it is hosting the World Car of the Year final announcement. You will not want to miss seeing the World Car of the Year based on past winners such as the Lexus LS 460 and the Mazda2. There is not much information yet about the events at the 2009 New York show but based on previous years the exhibits, events and cars will be exciting, cutting-edge and very entertaining. New York usually has the most attendance of any of the car shows in the United States making it a prime place for manufacturers and dealers to debut their new concepts and innovations. You do not want to miss this show – it is sure to be the most informative and exciting show of the season.
