This winter has been tough for a lot of areas across the United States. Freezing rain, cold weather, and heavy amounts of snow have blanketed much of the country this winter. This winter stepping out of the cold and enjoying spring break in some of the hottest resorts in and out of the country is a must! Here are some of the hottest places to go…
Always making the grade as one of the best places to head during spring break is Cancun. Gorgeous beaches, white sand and fabulous nightlife make this the place to go for spring break. The beaches become insanely crowded in March and April with college students making it there stop to get away from the books and into the sun and nightlife that Cancun offers. All night parties, plenty of drinks, and hotels right along the beach offer students the chance to escape it all and enjoy a fun vacation. Just a hint: if you’re planning on heading that way during spring break be sure to plan alittle rest and relax vacation after you get back home. All that partying, the late nights, and fun that Cancun offers will leave you more tired than when you got there. You will need a real break before heading back to the books.
If you’re wanting to enjoy the beaches of Cancun, but not the heavy crowds and student population, take the ferry to Cozumel or enjoy the quieter beaches by bus at Playa del Carmen. You get to enjoy the quiet retreat, white sand, and crystal clear water of the area, but not the crowds, heavy nightlife and sardine-like feel of more populated areas of Cancun.
During the spring, great deals in Europe are to be had, and many Americans can be found in London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Students and those on a budget usually opt to stay in hostels. This is a great way to meet new friends and other fellow students. There are also more organized groups like SAI that offer tour groups.
If you’re not of college age, you’ll find these places busier during the spring months, but you won’t experience the heavy crowds that other coastal places will afford. Summer is the time that many Europeans take their vacations, and crowds in Europe increase dramatically. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy a trip to Europe. If you’re wanting a locals perspective of Europe, consider checking out or bringing your own GPS system, or enjoy a guided GPS tour of the city. Or consider using a tour company. Hotels and travel locations are all arranged for you, leaving the insecurity of traveling to a foreign place on your own out.
Florida is considered the hot spot if you can’t get out of the country. Millions of students head to Panama City, Miami Beach, and Daytona Beach for plenty of beach parties and a fabulous nightlife. Huge sponsors hit the beaches of Panama City to give away plenty of freebies. Daytona Beach offers fabulous parties and festivities along Atlantic Avenue. Miami Beach is a more upscale, sophisticated place to party. The clubs are trendier, the celebrities more abundant, and the parties are crazier. The crystal clear beaches, activities and weather in Florida appeal to a large amount of students.
If you’re older and wanting to stay away from crowds, stay away from Florida during March and April. You’ll find the crowds and nightlife can be overwhelming unless you’re willing to drop a large amount of money for peace and quiet, VIP club access and private transportation.
Cabo San Lucas
Also another hot spot in Mexico made famous by MTV shows like “The Hills” is Cabo San Lucas. The once quiet retreat is quickly becoming one of the hottest spring vacation spots. However, Cabo is still torn between trying to keep itself a quiet retreat to being known as one of the hottest party spots for spring breakers. The later seems to be taking over. Cabo offers fabulous beaches, plenty of nightlife, and a great selection of water activities.
You can still enjoy the quiet–for a price. Celebrities often flock here and drop big bucks to enjoy private sandy beaches and top of the line villa retreats. At night you can graze the nightlife and parties of Cabo then head back to your own quiet, private retreat away from students and noise.
This Arizona retreat is for the outdoor enthusiast. Plenty of sun, warm weather mixed with mountain biking, white water rafting, and more. At night when the desert sun goes down, parties everywhere are to be had. Lake Havasu has begun to be known as one of the best outdoor party places in the United States. For those on a budget, you won’t have to worry about spending an arm and a leg to get to your destination, nor will you have to worry about the cost once you get there. There are plenty of affordable places to stay, and activities are reasonably priced.
It’s best to stay away from Lake Havasu if you’re looking for a quiet retreat. Most come here to burn off steam before getting back to the books and the gloom of finals week. The incredible water scene mixed with the fantastic nightlife makes it a happening place for those who love the best of both worlds–adventure and fun.
