As I enter my late 30s, I have been surprised to realize how prevalent swinger’s clubs are in New York City. New York City itself has great swingers clubs; as does nearby Long Island. While my wife and I don’t participate in ‘swinging’, we have been surprised to learn that at least three of our friends do. In the interest of, uh, research, we have visited a number of swinger’s clubs in recent months, along with our friends, to see first hand what the whole thing is about. While at first we were hesitant to even be present, and in fact never participated in activities with others, what we found was that most swingers clubs are full of a fairly wide variety of people. Not everybody in a swingers club in New York is just like us, but then again, not everybody in a ‘conventional’ club is just like us either.
We purposely went to some of the more upscale swingers clubs as those were the ones that intrigued us the most, and really, because those were the ones our friends go to as well. The following are our four favorite swingers clubs in New York City, complete with a description and review of each.
Brooklyn, New York
Casbar fashions itself as a ‘hip’ swingers club. And certainly as these things go, it accomplishes that. We went on a Saturday night and the crowd was mostly upscale and reasonably attractive. The dress code is not overbearing, but everybody was neat and well groomed.
As far as the action inside, well, it’s not a shy place. While early on things were a bit slow, by the end there was quite a bit of action, and most of the participants seemed to enjoy the fact that they were being watched. It was definitely a turn on for me wife and me (though we chose to take care of that later while in the privacy of home), and we were both struck with how uninhibited and friendly people were. One of our hesitations to visiting swing clubs was that we were afraid we might be pressured, but we weren’t at all.
As this was the first one we visited, we didn’t think too much about how big the place is, but it is immense. There is plenty of room for everybody, and for private, semi-private and public displays. There are shower rooms, a dining area and a bar, though Casbar is a BYOB establishment.
Casbar admits single men only on Friday nights, but single women all the time. The night we were there, however, there seemed to be an equal number of both as the scene was dominated by couples.
New York, New York
DDevious Delights is a club and hosts parties in both New York City and New Jersey. There is a fairly straightforward application process, and they are clearly interested in keeping their parties clean, safe and sexy. It’s not that there wasn’t anybody in the party we went to that was unattractive, but for the most part, the crowd was sexy and well dressed.
DDevious Delights approves only single females and couples for memberships; no single males are allowed. They provide non alcoholic drinks and mixers, but it is a BYOB club (as are most swingers clubs).
One Leg Up
New York, New York
One Leg Up offers it all. It’s the ultimate in the New York City swing scene. For starters, it offers different levels of swinging. For most of us, it’s probably perfect as they host parties, specifically titled as ‘take out’ or ‘eat in’. The ‘take out’ parties are designed not for actual on premise sex, but rather as a sexy party (with many topless ladies), that ends relatively early. People, like my wife and me, who are interested in this sort of experience, but don’t want to actually become swingers, enjoy this as it’s a fun and erotic night out with like minded couples.
One Leg Up is held at different places (mostly in lofts in downtown Manhattan) and everybody is screened. For the more hardcore swingers, One Leg Up’s ‘Eat In’ parties are for those who are most diligently screened and who desire ‘on premises’ action.
The organizer of these events knows what she’s doing and has stood the test of time as One Leg Up has been around for over ten years.
Voyeur Events is in some ways similar to One Leg Up, but probably with a little less production. I don’t mean that in necessarily a good or bad way; both have extremely attractive and carefully screened people. They hold monthly events, most of them with themes, in downtown and midtown Manhattan. As with One Leg Up, Voyeur Events admits only couples and single females; no single males are allowed. They tend to attract a young and hip crowd and it feels as much a nightclub as a swingers club at times. But make no mistake, there is a lot of action here, and, as the name would suggest, many watching that action.
