Best Web Content Sites for Beginning Writers to Earn Extra Money

by yup tab

If you’re a beginning writer, producing articles for web content sites may be exactly what you need to get your feet wet and generate a continuous flow of income until you build up a client base.

I got my start writing for web content sites, and between writing gigs I continue to produce content for a number of them. If you need a place to exercise those writing muscles while you earn extra money, check out a few of these web content sites.

Associated Content

Associated Content (AC) is by far the best place to write if you’re just starting out. All you do is sign up and start writing. The average pay rate on Associated Content is between $3 and $10 — depending on the topics you choose and your ability to optimize your articles for search engines. Sometimes they pay more — but don’t get your hopes up.

Associated Content offers a page view bonus of $1.50 per 1000 views. The page view bonus rate increases slightly as your clout level improves. Even if your content is not eligible for an upfront payment, you can choose to publish it for page views and make a little extra money every month.

Some people make a nice supplemental income on AC, while others make barely enough for gas each month. If nothing else, AC is a great place to strengthen your skills as a writer.

Ehow

Ehow is a wonderful place to capitalize on what you know. There are no upfront payments, but you can earn ad revenue by writing simple “how-to” articles. Although Ehow provides no clear explanation of how their payment system works, it still provides you with an opportunity to earn extra money while you get your freelance writing business off the ground.

Helium Marketplace

Helium’s Marketplace is very competitive, but it’s worth looking into. Buyers list articles on the marketplace, and writers write them. The buyer then selects the article he likes the best, and purchases it. There is a downside to writing for Helium’s Marketplace. If your article is not chosen by the buyer it is automatically posted on Helium’s content site, which may hinder your ability to sell the article to another publication.

Daily Article

You can post your articles on Daily Article and wait for them to sell. Sometimes they sell immediately. Sometimes they sit for months before they sell. And sometimes they never sell. You set your own price for the articles you post, and Daily Article takes a small percentage if the article sells

Textbroker

Textbroker is not really a web content site, but it’s a great place to find quick work. Writers and assignments are categorized by levels. The higher your level of writing, the more money you make.

The pay on Textbroker is not great, and you give up all rights to your content once it’s submitted. However, if you have a little extra time on your hands and need a few bucks, this may be the place for you. The good thing about Textbroker is there are assignments available for writers of varying skill levels.

These web content sites are free to sign up for, and they give new writers a place to get started. Good luck!
