Bob Dylan’s American Influence

by yup tab

Bob Dylan, a man with great intelligence, talent, and a love for the art of music, has had a tremendous influence on the American people over the course of the past several decades. His music has inspired many and circulated criticism amongst others. Some say he is the most brilliant writer alive while others do not understand his style of music. No matter which way you look at it, Bob Dylan has had some impact on American culture.

Starting out at a very young age, Bob Dylan became encapsulated with music. After his freshman year of college he dropped out of college to pursue his love for music. Little did he know what an amazing captivation he would become with the American people. He struck the world by storm releasing hit after hit. Although many accepted his music, it was of a very different and unique style. Many of his songs are fast paced lyrically and many deal with politics. Dylan’s political incorporation into his music was one of the factors that led many to criticize his work. Some did not and do not agree with his views. They felt as if he was almost too outspoken.

Another area to look at when analyzing Bob Dylan’s impact on the American people is how he chose to handle the media. The way Dylan dealt with the press can be looked at in two different ways. He chose to be quite sarcastic in his meetings with the media. Dylan felt that they were always asking him to answer too much and he was not sure why. As a viewer he may of come off as funny, but to people in the media and perhaps others, he would come off as an arrogant and stubborn man.

It’s certain that Dylan had his fans, but as you can see, he definitely had his enemies as well. By reading some of his quotes it is easier to see what type of man Bob Dylan was:

“I don’t think the human mind can comprehend the past and the future. They are both just illusions that can manipulate you into thinking theres some kind of change.”

“I have dined with kings, I’ve been offered wings. And I’ve never been too impressed.”

“I am against nature. I don’t dig nature at all. I think nature is very unnatural. I think the truly natural things are dreams, which nature can’t touch with decay.”

His work was always very intricate and detailed. The very fact of having to think about the words to his songs was what drove many people to love his music. Depending on who you are will alter the way Bob Dylan’s music has affected you, if at all. There are endless ways his music has affected people, why don’t you find out for yourself just how Bob Dylan’s music affects you?
