Britney Spears on a Turnaround
I can’t think of anyone who would call Britney Spears boring. For the past five years she has kept us on the edge of our seats with antics from wild motherhood moments, to erratic hospital visits, come back attempts, and finally, what appears to be a real comeback.
“Womanizer,” the first single released from her new album Circus, hit number one on the charts in October. A number one hit, combined with fan support, and three VMA awards this year had to give Britney Spears a boost of confidence following a year of what she described as “h—.”
She received a standing ovation at this year’s VMA awards and told Glamour magazine she could feel the love and support. I’m thrilled for her strides at recovery, but I think she would have gotten a standing ovation anyway for not repeating last year’s VMA debacle.
It may have been a tough year, but it appears she has worked to regain physical fitness and the ability to pursue her passion…performing. Britney also says she is working hard to be a good role model for her kids.
Britney Spears Success in England
Britney took her new single “Womanizer,” the first single released off of her new album Circus, to England. She performed on Simon Cowell’s X Factor, a British talent show. The performance was a knock-out and Cowell told Ryan Seacrest that it would be a shame not to have Britney Spears perform during the January premier of American Idol. According to Cowell, Britney created a lot of buzz.
Doesn’t she always?
According to Britney Spears official website and blog, the young star was geeked-up about her performance on X Factor. I’m not quite sure what to make of Simon Cowell’s self aggrandizing comment that he thought Britney was “in awe” of him. (Whatever! Cowell is in awe of himself.)
Britney Thinks she is Boring
Featured on the cover of January’s Glamour magazine Britney told Glamour that she doesn’t like going out anymore.
Britney is quoted by Glamour as saying, “I hate clubs. I hate being around too many people. I love my home and staying in bed and watching Dancing with the Stars or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring.”
Boring? Britney Spears? Baseball bat wielding, head shaving Britney? Boring?
Never, not even if she were a stay-at-home-mom without a nanny.
Is She just Bored?
Now, on the flip side of the interview Britney has made another comment. Perhaps, better than any other the contradiction shows that she is still on the road to recovery, but not fully there yet.
In an interview with MTV she said her life has, “No excitement. No passion.”
Life is too structured according to Britney who said of life, “I feel like it’s too in control.” She even said she was sad.
It sounds like this time around Britney was saying she is bored, not boring.
Britney Never Bores Fans
Media and fans are never bored by Britney. She was one of the most searched celebrities on the internet in 2008. We’ve watched her grow up too fast and now cheer for her as she tries to regain control of a life and lifestyle that was spinning out of control.
Here’s hoping she adjusts to a life that is more in control and learns to enjoy it, within boundaries. It sounds like she has come part of the way, but that one foot wants to drag behind. It’s kind of like straddling the fence, but at least Britney has Dad to pull her over.
