The 2009 Kia Amanti is the most recent attempt at an up-scale sedan by the folks at Kia, and they are definitely getting better at the endeavor. While previous models of the Kia Amanti have been criticized for a lack of power and design issues, the 2009 Kia Amanti has retooled those areas in a big way. With a manufacturers suggested retail price starting at $26,580, the 2009 Kia Amanti gets a little better than average fuel economy – 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
One of the most pleasant surprises in the 2009 Kia Amanti is the improvement in the area of performance. Powered by a DOHC 24 valve, 6 cylinder engine that has a 264 Horsepower output at 6,000 RPM’s, the 2009 Kia Amanti also features an electronically controlled 5 speed automatic transmission with overdrive. A smooth ride is afforded by independent double wishbone front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension. Power assisted rack-and-pinion steering and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution round out an excellent performance package.
On the interior the 2009 Kia Amanti looks every bit the part of an expensive luxury sedan. Starting with the 8 way power adjustable driver’s seat, wood grain interior accents, and the center console armrest with two bin storage. The 2009 Kia Amanti takes the luxury theme a bit further, with a leather wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control, tilt steering column, and power windows and door locks. The audio system is outstanding with an AM/FM Cassette and CD player with 8 speakers.
The exterior of the 2009 Kia Amanti exudes class and elegance, beginning with the 16 inch tires on 9 spoke alloy wheels. Dual outside power heated mirrors, tinted windshield with solar glass, a dual exhaust, and body color door handles and side moldings make a powerful statement. The 2009 Kia Amanti adds a little sport with the halogen headlights and front fog lights.
The 2009 Kia Amanti has a more than adequate safety system, designed to address most situations. Front driver and passenger front and side airbags, full length side curtain airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system are well designed. Side impact door beams, an energy absorbing steering column, and front and rear crumple zones protect all occupants in the 2009 Kia Amanti better than most vehicles.
In it’s class, the 2009 Kia Amanti is absolutely at the front of the pack in terms of value and quality in a sedan.
