As a cat owner you may be asking yourself a myriad of Why Do Cats … questions. You are definitely not alone. Here are a few reasons why I believe that a cat’s behavior is just like that of humans, whereas dogs behave differently from humans.
Will Retaliate with Passive Aggressive Behavior When Angry
When you make a cat angry, whether it be because you left them for a week with your annoying brother or forgot to feed them one night, they won’t retaliate immediately by scratching your eyes out, but they will get you back one way or another in a passive aggressive manner as most humans do. One of their favorite cat actions is to take a dump on the floor next to their litter box — yes, just inches from the litter. They know that you are going to have to clean it up and curse as you do it, and will probably be lurking somewhere nearby to view your reaction to get the full satisfaction. Dogs are just happy to be there, unfortunately, they will take much abuse and keep coming back for more.
Will Ignore You if You’re Not Entertaining Them
Like humans, cats bore easily. They need to be constantly entertained by something, just as humans cannot live without the television. If you are not amusing them they will most likely leave and find something that is more interesting to do. Dogs will sit right there and enjoy boredom with you. Also, dogs will gladly run endlessly after a frisbee, while a cat, like a human, will not see the point in doing that.
Won’t Crap Where They Eat and Vice Versa
It’s a known fact that cats will not go to the bathroom where their food bowl is. Many cat behavioral experts say that if your cat is going outside of the litter box, you should put the cat’s food bowl near the place where they like to “go.” Similarly, humans do not like their bathroom stuff to be near their kitchen stuff, and people do not bring their food into the bathroom. Dogs, on the other hand, like to eat their poop. Nuff said.
Will Run at the First Sign of Danger — No Questions Necessary
Have you ever been in a public place and heard a loud sound that signals danger, such as a gun shot or a loud bang? What do most (sane) people do, they start running in the opposite direction — they don’t need to know what happened they just get going. When you see a group of people running in one direction, do you stop to see what’s going on? No you run with them and ask questions later! Cats do the same exact thing. At the first sign of danger, whether it be a loud sound or other cats running in a certain direction, they high tail it out of there. Maybe that’s where the term “high tailed” came from in the first place! Dogs on the other hand, like some less than sharp people, will most likely stay behind and see where the danger came from.
So it’s clear that cats are definitely more human like. If you don’t like your cats behavior, maybe you should take a hard look at yourself, since he or she is most probably acting just like you!
