This song was inspired to help FEED THE WORLD especially those starving in Ethiopia however it was done to raise awareness and money for famine relief all over the world. Original band aid musicians included Freddie Mercury, Phil Collins, Sting, George Michael, Bono of U2, Sara Dallin and Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama, David Bowie and many more artists from around the world. An updated version found HEREwas done in 2004 by some of the same artists as the original but also included new artists. Some of these artists are Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Natasha Bedingfield, Dido, Joss Stone, Robbie Williams and many others.
Another great song that was made for charity and awareness is the song Sing. Annie Lennox created this song for the awareness of HIV/AIDS that is needed in the world. Especially in Africa where the disease has turned into an epidemic not only affecting adults but children as well. The emotional video can be found HERE. Sounds from Annie Lennox, Pink, Bonnie Raitt, Shakira, Joss Stone, Dido, Melissa Etheridge, Faith Hill and many other beautiful women soar on this track. It should be noted that Annie Lennox presented the TAC or Treatment Action Campaign with $500,000 from a charity event “Idol Gives Back” from the people behind the American Idol television show. She has also worked generously for TAC, Greenpeace and Amnesty International.
America faced an enormous tragedy September 11, 2001. Although controversy surround this next song/video due issues with Sony Records, Accusations of child pornography, the involvement of the HELP Organization and the Church of Scientology this song should be mentioned. Michael Jackson’s What More Can I Give was finally heard on Oct. 21, 2001 at the 9/11 benefit concert entitled United We Stand: What More Can I Give?. In 2003 the song was presented at the Radio City Music Awards where Michael Jackson received the Humanitarian Award. Featured singers on this song include Beyonce Knowles, Aaron Carter, Anastasia, Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Hanson, Reba McIntyre, Ricky Martin, Jon Secada and many others. Michael Jackson has over the past multitude of years produced other charity worthy songs including Heal the World, We are the World, Earth Song and many others.
