Today’s economy is really tough for most folks, especially now that it is Christmas time. There are few things that you can make and It’s a lot cheaper. It’s whole lot easier and very special, too. You can make potpourri and put them in old jars. Here is what you do, you find roses and other flowers. You can use your dehydrator to dry the flowers, use your favorite perfume and spray the flowers. Dehydrate them until they can crumble up. You crumble them up and put them in old jars. Most people have jars laying around in there house already. If not, you can find some at a garage sale or at you local thrift shop. They won’t cost too much; at these places. You can use a piece of tissue paper to cover the top. You can just glue it to the top of your jar and wrap the top with a piece of ribbon. You can use you imagination with these very decorative masterpiece.
You can also make brownie jars; these are very tasty and make great gifts. You can start by getting jars, the mason types and you add the following ingredients: 1 1/8 Cup of flour, 1/3 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2/3 Cup of white sugar, 3/4Tsp. Salt, 2/3 brown sugar (packed), 1/2 Cup peanut butter chips, and walnuts (optional). You layer these ingredients in the jar, neatly. Then take a piece of ribbon and wrap it around the top of the jar. Finally, you glue the instructions on the top of the lid. The instructions are as followed: Preheat the oven 350 degrees, Grease 9 x 9 square pan, place the contents in a large bowl, add 1 Tsp. vanilla, 2/3 vegetable oil, 3 eggs, beat batter until mixed thoroughly and pour into pan, and bake for 30 minutes.
You can make you own gift wrap and it’s ego-friendly. With everyone going green these days, it’s hard not to recycle. When you go grocery shopping, ask your cashier to bag your items in paper bags, instead of plastic. Take your paper bags and cut them on the short side, so that they are laying flat. Turn the bag over; so that you see the wording of the store. Wrap you gift. You can even stamp them with rubber stamps, for a decorative touch. You can also reuse your gift bags, that you received last Christmas. You can use ordinary boxes, such as shoe boxes; to put your gifts in these.
You can also make your own gift tags out of empty cigarette packs. Save your empty cigarette packs, or ask somebody else to. Cut the short, long side of cigarette pack with scissors and you can also the other sides. Just use the use the white side; to write the to and from. This is a good way to save money on gift tags and save waste.
