Finals are a very stressful time. Unfortunately, during the autumn semester, they tend to fall during the most stressful time of the year – the holidays. If you are a college student who is currently trying to cope with the stress of finals and the stress of Thanksgiving and Christmas, here are some of the things to keep in mind.
Be Aware of Deadlines For Papers
Most people are usually pretty well aware of when their final examinations are. There’s a possibility that you might forget the due dates of your term papers, however. Depending on what courses you are currently taking, there’s a strong possibility that you have a whole lot of term papers due. The best way to ensure that you will remember everything is to get a calendar and write down the due dates. Consider color coding what you write down according to each class.
Set a Certain Time to do Everything
The best thing that you can do when you have finals and the holidays is set a certain time to do everything. Try to make a chart, allowing yourself the right amount of time for each particular assignment. Make sure that you allow enough time for each assignment, or you may find yourself in a bit of a rut if something happens to go wrong. Also allow for last minute papers, essays, or tests that your professor may assign to you. Although they’re never fun, it does happen from time to time.
Worry About Shopping Before or After
It’s ideal for all college students to finish their shopping in October. Unfortunately, that doesn’t usually happen for most of us. That said, it’s important to make sure that you finish all of your assignments before you begin to think about Christmas shopping for your friends and family. This is especially true if you have a lot of assignments that need to be completed. If you enjoy Christmas shopping, consider it an incentive to finish your homework on time.
Don’t Overdo it with the Eggnog
We all know how tempting eggnog can be – especially when it has alcohol in it. Try to limit yourself during the holiday season, or at least until winter break begins. Partying before the semester ends is one of the biggest mistakes that many college students make. The end of the semester isn’t over until you take that final exam and/or hand in your term paper. Once it’s over, you can drink all the eggnog you want.
Take Advantage of Online Shopping
It is a good idea to try to take advantage of online shopping, if it ensures that you will finish all of your assignments in time. You will be able to do it from the convenience of your own home, in your pajamas. The most important thing to keep in mind when Christmas shopping online is that you will want to ensure that the gifts are shipped to the right location. You don’t want them to arrive at your dorm once you have already left for Christmas break.
These are just a few tips on how to cope with finals during the holiday season. Most importantly, make sure that you eat healthy and get a good night’s rest because you’re going to need it later on!
