I have used Cover Girl products since the time I began wearing makeup. The moderately priced cosmetics are readily available in drugstores, grocery stores and discount department stores. Over the years, I have purchased and enjoyed their eye shadows, eye pencils, blushes, powders and of course, foundations. While I was once a loyal fan of the Cover Girl Tru Blend line, they changed their formula and packaging and my enthusiasm for the product quickly faded. I recently gave Cover Girl Advanced Restorative Cream Foundation a try. Here are my impressions of this product.
Cover Girl Advanced Restorative Cream Foundation is available in a point ninety four fluid ounce glass pot with a screw on lid. I purchased this foundation for $7.99. I found the price for this makeup product to be extremely reasonable when compared to other liquid foundations of the same quantity. I was very anxious to try this product which is why I overlooked the fact that this foundation is packaged in a pot as opposed to a bottle with a pump. Though the glass pots with the screw on lids make transporting these foundations very easy and safe, I prefer to use foundations that are dispensed with a pump. I find that less foundation is wasted with this type of container. I also do not like the idea of sticking my fingers in the pot of makeup day after day. Although I wash my hands both before and after the makeup application process, I am concerned that I am passing facial oils and bacteria back and forth.
Cover Girl Advanced Restorative Cream Foundation contains an SPF factor of ten which I found to be a real benefit of this product. I am very fair skinned and do my best to protect my face from the harmful effects of the sun all year round. Though ten may not be a very high number on the scale of sunburn protection, every little bit counts.
Speaking of fair skin, I chose number 105 Ivory among the shades of foundation offered. The tag on the top of the point indicated that this shade of foundation would best match my skin tone and provide a natural look. Unfortunately, the actual shade of the foundation was slightly darker in the pot. Although the shade was close and looked just fine immediately upon applying it in my bathroom mirror, in natural sunlight, the foundation was clearly a bit off for me.
Cover Girl Advanced Restorative Cream Foundation is indeed very creamy. The makeup blends easily and does provide nice coverage. Had the shade worked a little bit better for me, I would have been much more pleased with this product than I was. Overall, I would rate this product three out of five beauty stars. All things considered, Cover Girl Advanced Restorative Cream Foundation could work very well for some consumers. The price is right, the foundation offers some SPF protection and has a very creamy texture which makes even coverage a breeze. I am simply too fair for the lightest shade offered by this line and will continue my quest for a makeup foundation that is right for me.
