Easter is one of the most fun holidays when it comes to decorating because you can use such a great assortment of pretty spring colors. One fun way you can spruce up your home and yard for the holiday is to decorate your mailbox for Easter. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Get a Magnetic Mailbox Cover
Probably the easiest way to decorate your mailbox with an Easter theme is using a pre-made magnetic mailbox cover. You may be able to find these at your local store, although you might have to resort to ordering one online if you can’t find one locally. These cool little accessories are basically a large magnetic sheet printed with an Easter theme. It could be bunnies, flowers, eggs or just lovely spring colors.
You drape the magnet over your mailbox, trim it to size and add a little hole for your flag to poke through if the magnet doesn’t already have one. To add a bit more Easter flair you then may want to wrap the pole with colored ribbon or spring colored silk flowers.
Use a Placemat
If you are on a budget but still want to add some holiday cheer to your mailbox you can create an inexpensive mailbox cover with a plastic or vinyl placement. Buy a placement with a holiday theme or buy plain placemats and decorate your own. If you decorate your own placemat be sure that the decorations or paint you use on it will stand up to the weather. For the best results you should look for a rectangular placemat with a plastic coating.
Next, get a roll of magnetic tape. Drape your placemat over your mailbox and cut it to size. Then attach a strip of magnet to the backside of the placemat around all the edges. Stick the placemat onto your mailbox and you have a pretty Easter mailbox.
Create a Mailbox Swag with Silk Flowers & Plastic Eggs
Using floral wire, floral tape, silk flowers and plastic eggs, create a custom swag to hang over your mailbox. You can make it as fancy or plain as you would like. Arrange the flowers and eggs into a pleasing, draped arrangement. You can also accent it with colored ribbon or even small LED lights. When you have everything arranged the way you want it drape it over your mailbox and attach it with heavy duty wire to hold it in place.
Use your imagination and have fun coming up with your own ideas on how to decorate your mailbox this Easter. It is a great way to show your holiday spirit and make your house stand out from the others on the block.
