The Wave is one of the newest restaurants at Walt Disney World, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The Wave restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a contemporary setting, and has a modern styled bar for cocktails and drinks.
The Wave Atmosphere
Nearly every restaurant at Walt Disney World has a theme or a particular style. Part of the dining experience at a Disney World restaurant is often related to both the theming and the quality of the meal. The Wave is no exception, and the modern theme fits perfectly with the theming of Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The Wave restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has an upscale, but casual feel to it when you enter the restaurant. Located on the first floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, The Wave is near the main lobby and easy to notice.
The Menu
The menu at The Wave is meant to be different, yet American. An emphasis on healthier dining options is apparent, with a number of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options designed to appeal to health-conscious diners.
Breakfast options on the menu include Multigrain French Toast or Multigrain Waffles with a dash of Acai Juice for $9.99. Traditional egg dishes and breakfast choices are available for about $11.99. A Spinach, Tomato, and Onion Omelet is $9.49. Fresh Fruit Plates are on the menu for $7.29 for a lighter breakfast.
Lunch offers a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, similar to the dinner menu, but with lighter choices. Appetizers for lunch or dinner include Navy Bean Soup ($6.49), Lettuce Wraps with Scallops and Lamb ($11.99), Avacado and Citrus Salad ($7.49), and other salad and appetizer selections.
Dinner entrees include Pork Tenderloin ($21.99), Grilled Beef Tenderloin ($28.99), and Seasonal Vegetable Stew ($17.99), as well as others. Both the lunch and dinner menu features a Today’s Sustainable Fish dish for $20.99.
The desserts are worth saving room for. Dessert trios are priced at $7.99 each and include three different groupings; Creamy Indulgence, Decadent Flavors, and Crispy and Crunchy. Whole Leaf Silk Sachet Teas are available at $2.19 each in at least ten different varieties, including Long Life Green Tea and Organic Breakfast Tea.
The Dining Experience
Our dining experience was at lunch, and the menu was similar to the dinner menu at The Wave, though lunch offers some lighter fare. At 1 pm on a weekday in early December, there was no wait. Service was good and the menu had enough choices to make this a different dining experience than another Disney World counter service lunch. It was a nice break in the afternoon to sit down and dine at The Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Our entrees for lunch included a Spice Crusted Chicken Salad ($14.99) and Navy Bean Soup ($6.49), followed by a Decadent Flavor Dessert Trio ($7.99). The portions were large and the three courses were enough for two smaller eaters to share. I recommend the dessert trios, since you get three different taster sized desserts.
A children’s menu is available, with children’s meals priced at $7.49 for basic Disney dining choices for kids. The children’s menus are nearly identical at most sit-down Disney World restaurants.
The Wave was a nice restaurant to try after having dined at most of the other Disney World restaurants. The Contemporary Resort is near enough to Disney’s Magic Kingdom to make The Wave an accessible option for any meal.
