Now That I Am at the Website, How Do I Search for What I Want?
At the top, there are two fields to enter search terms. In the right one, open the menu and pick the choice, “Animation and Cartoons.” Now if you were to hit the button without filling in the leftmost field, you would be stuck with scrolling through 1,291 choices (at the time of the writing of this article). Doing the work, you would almost certainly not miss a single cartoon title, so perhaps that is the most efficient method of finding the little animated gems. However, if you wish to make your task a bit easier, put in the word “cartoon” in the left search field, and the number of possibilities is reduced to a mere 162!
What Are Some Quality Features of These Cartoons?
There are many things that make today’s cartoons different from those of some decades ago, and not all of those differences represent improvements. It is true that technology has provided computer graphics, which can be a great tool, but if they are overworked – and they usually are – they lend an air of artificiality and triviality to the resultant productions made. Older animation, on the other hand required individually painted graphic cells, and if enough effort was put into it, although it was laborious and time-consuming to make them, the quality would be unmistakably excellent in the end-result.
Another area of change in cartoons is subject matter. While older cartoons contained silly, even ridiculous humor, at least they were not often crude. At the same time, older cartoons allowed for a maturity in their audience, making them watchable to the over-eight crowd. The adult humor, however, was not merely subliminal trash.
