Please forgive me as I do my happy dance once again! (We’re getting really good at it!)
The good luck fairy continues to hover over Philadelphia, as the Eagles put down the Giants, 23-11, at the Meadowlands, sending the Eagles to Phoenix for the NFC championship game.
The defense denied the Super Bowl Champions even one touchdown, their 11 points consisting of three field goals and a safety. Donavan McNabb upstaged Eli Manning by diving and throwing for two touchdowns, and converted three third downs. David Akers nailed three field goals, giving him 18 straight in the playoffs.
Admittedly Philly fans were a bit nervous during that one time New York had the lead, but were soon jumping up and spilling popcorn when that second TD was scored.
This was the second time the Eagles beat the Giants this year, on their own turf, and the ONLY team to beat the Giants at home!
While this was a win, they will need to have a better offense if they want to make it to and win the Super Bowl. We are painfully aware of the dangers of getting our hopes up.
And with Pittsburgh’s rout today, a Pennsylvania Turnpike Super Bowl is not impossible!
For now, however, my Eagles earrings shall remain in my lobes all of my waking hours until this is all over.
Fly Eagles Fly!
