Having a newborn can be very stressful and I’m sure if you’re expecting, you’re very anxious trying to get everything done before your little bundle of joy arrives. Of course you have your babies room complete, clothes clean and ready, changing table all put together and bottles washed, but what now? One of the most important things to have when having a new born is the diaper bag. Whenever you go anywhere, you will need extra supplies on hand in case of an accident. But what do you put in this bag? I have listed the items that should be supplied in a diaper bag below so that you’ll be sure not to forget a thing!
The first item, and the most important, is of course extra diapers. Your little one could need to be changed anywhere so you need to be ready with clean diapers. Pack about 4 or 5 diapers so you’ll be all set wherever you go, or more if you expect to be out for a longer period of time. The next important item to have is your diaper wipes. Whether they be disposable or cloth whips, make sure that you have a good amount or take a box of disposable wipes and put them in your bag. The next important item is a change of clothes. Babies are unpredictable and can spit up, become sick or wet through their clothing at any time. You want to be ready with a change of clothes so that your baby can stay clean and warm. A changing pad is another great item to have with you. It’s great if you have to change your baby in a public bathroom or even in the back seat of your car. You’ll want something clean and comfortable your baby can lay on. A burping cloth can also be put in your bag incase of accidental spit ups. This will keep mom safe from any messes your little one may cause. Make sure to pack a small blanket in your bag. Babies love to be warm and you’ll have extra protection when out in the unpredictable weather. Food is another important item to bring. You’re baby may become fussy and want formula. Pack some clean bottles, a bottle warmer, some formula and a bottle of water. Small toys are great to pack to keep your little one entertained. Attach some toys to his car seat so he’ll have something to play with while you’re traveling. The last item that is great to have handy is hand sanitizer. If you end up having to change your baby in a place that doesn’t have running water, you’ll have your hand sanitizer handy to clean up.
Having everything ready for baby when he gets here is very important. Being a mommy is a big responsibility and I know that you want to have everything ready for baby when he arrives. Go through your diaper bag and check to be sure you have all the items above.
