Are you looking for a family fun vacation? Try Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, TN. It’s a packed full of family fun activities.
First, if you’re the Swiss Family Robinson type of family, visit The Great Smoky Mountain National Park where activities range from hiking, fishing, and whitewater rafting to biking, horseback riding, and camping. There’s plenty to keep the sense of adventure flowing…just watch out for bears.
For the more subdued family, visit the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies…if you don’t mind sharks swimming over your head. According to Ripley’s Aquarium, the 1.4 million gallon world-class aquarium features more than 10,000 exotic sea creatures and the world’s most spectacular underwater aquarium tunnel.
Another family favorite is Dolly Parton’s Dollywood amusement park. It features rides, music, shows, crafts, and food…a fun time for everyone.
Located beside Dollywood is Dolly Parton’s Splash Country waterpark, also a family favorite. What a perfect way to cool off in the summer with water slides, lazy river, and tanning.
Of course, no family vacation could be complete without miniature golf…and the Smokies has miniature golf…on almost every corner. There are adventures with dinosaurs, gators, pirates, and bears…even some indoor courses for rainy days.
Another family favorite is Ober Gatlinburg where a tram takes you up the mountain for ice skating and seasonal skiing, and a view like no other.
Sit back and relax at the many family-oriented comedy shows and restaurants. The Comedy Barn and Black Bear Jamboree are favorites of many families.
Wonder Works in Pigeon Forge is an upside down building packed full of interactive hands-on adventures for everyone with activities ranging from a large rock climbing wall to lying on a bed of nails…honest.
Another must see is the Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo. It’s an indoor Rainforest zoo with over 400 live animals for fun and learning.
New to the Smokies is the Wilderness at the Smokies Waterpark Resort, located in Sevierville. The see-through roof allows you to suntan all year long. There’s a wave pool, waterslide, tube slides, and play area with tipping bucket . Plans are also under way to add an outdoor waterpark.
The list of adventures could go on forever. There are go-carts, helicopter rides, bumper boats, arcades, laser tag, bungee jumping…
And for the more tame at heart, there’s shopping! Gatlinburg is side-to-side shops within walking distance of each other, while Pigeon Forge hosts an array of outlet malls. There’s something for everyone in The Smokies!
