Finding the Best New Year’s Eve Party Supplies in Northeast Ohio – So you’re hosting a New Year’s Eve party this year, and you have to gather all of that party “stuff” while juggling the demands of the Christmas holiday at the same time. Where can you find everything you need to make your party a success? Let’s take a look at three stores that have just what you’re looking for.
If your event is a simple but fun gathering of friends, you can save a lot of time and effort by foregoing the party supply store altogether and stop by your neighborhood Target store. That’s right–Target. Of course, you can purchase the necessary plates, cups, napkins and tablecovers in a variety of colors here, but Target also carries an assortment of party favor kits, ranging from about $27 to $43 each. These kits include a variety of paper foil top hats, tiaras, conical hats, serpentine throws (kind of like silly string for grown-ups), horns and blowouts, enough for 25 guests. And considering that most Target stores carry a wide range of food products, it could mean one-stop shopping for your party needs.
For those of you who want to kick things up a notch, Factory Card Outlet is a good place to start. I visited the Middleburg Heights location to see what’s cooking for this year’s big night. Most of the typical plates, cups, napkins, tablecovers and centerpiece bursts are available, in a variety of New Year’s designs with prices ranging from about $5 to $10 for these items. You’ll even find a multi-colored set of 8 plastic champagne glasses for $9.99.
The store also carries several other decorative items and the usual horns, blowouts, and hats, although the selection is not as broad as we’ve come to expect. (Some of us simply aren’t satisfied with typical party fare!) However, Factory Card Outlet has a few things going for it when it comes to planning your New Year’s soiree. First, they carry party favor kits for up to 100 party guests. This largest kit retails for $140, but FCO is offering them at 50% off, bringing your cost down to $70. Not bad if you’re having a very large get-together. Kits are also available for 25 and 50 guests, also 50% off.
Second, Factory Card Outlet has Balloon Time helium balloon kits reasonably priced at $24.99 for the 30-count kit and $34.99 for the 50-count kit. However, do-it-yourself floaters are not the best this store has to offer. If you want something truly unique and downright silly, FCO gets my vote with the “Light Up The Night On New Year’s” lampshade party hat. That’s right, it’s a lampshade complete with pull-chain that you can wear (if you dare) to amuse your friends all night. A switch inside the hat activates the flashing light bulb design on the front. You can be the life of the party for only $8.99 with this one.
My choice for the best overall selection of New Year’s Eve party supplies in the Greater Cleveland area is Party Place, also located in Middleburg Heights. This store has nearly an entire wall devoted to the year-end party needs. Of course, the requisite party favor kits are here, largely in 10-guest quantities ranging in price from $12.50 up to about $30.00 for the most elegant variety. You’ll save on these kits, though, with 25% discounts on most of them. Savings add up on paper goods as well. All plates, cups, napkins and tablecovers are marked 50% off, with some party invitations as much as 75% off.
You’ll want to take your time to browse through Party Place’s New Year’s Eve items. There is such a wide variety of hats, blowouts, noisemakers, beaded necklaces, and most are available for purchase in bulk or as single items. The cutest thing I saw was a strand of silver beads with three adorable rubber duckies wearing top hats. If you’re the designated driver, you’ll probably want to stick with the duckies instead of a lampshade hat in order to protect your reputation.
When it comes to party décor, Party Place is the place to shop. There are many centerpiece bursts to choose from, along with 7-foot floor-to-ceiling strings in various colors, foils, and designs. Or, you might go with a room roll to wrap your entire party venue in a cityscape or fireworks motif. Each roll is 25 feet long, and it retails at $18.99 for a 2-pack. Even more affordable at $5.99 is a 3-piece replica of Times Square, standing nearly room height and 7 feet across.
How about a piñata for your year-end event? Party Place has those too, at $10.99, but with their 25% discount, they’re practically a steal. You can choose from a disco ball piñata or a cityscape design. And if no party of yours is complete without balloons, you’ll find the Balloon Time helium kits for sale at $26.99 for the 30-count kit.
