The original Playstation is home to some of the greatest video games of all time. So it is disappointing that Sony is slow at releasing PSOne Classics on the Playstation Store for the PSP and Playstation 3. Plenty of classic games that should be on the service aren’t. Hopefully, Sony can recommit to releasing classic Playstation games as downloadable titles for the PSP and Playstation 3. Here are five titles that should become PSOne Classics.
Crash Team Racing
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment, Developer: Naughty Dog, Original Release Date: 1999, ESRB Rating: E
When Crash Bandicoot was under the control of Sony, he was widely known as the mascot for Playstation. With all three of the main Playstation games already available as PSOne Classics, Crash Team Racing is the last remaining classic from the series waiting to be converted for the PSP and Playstation 3. This kart racing game is one of a handful of titles that can stand toe to toe against the mighty Mario Kart series. It was a perfect ending to a great partnership between Crash Bandicoot and Sony.
Publisher: Capcom, Developer: Capcom, Original Release Date: 1999, ESRB Rating: M
Capcom has embraced the Playstation Store on the Playstation 3 with many new downloadable games. Unfortunately, they haven’t yet released a PSOne Classic game on the online store. Instead of the usual Resident Evil titles, Capcom should go for the much underrated Dino Crisis. A cross between Resident Evil and Jurassic Park, this survival-horror game is one of the best action titles on the original Playstation.
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment, Developer: Polyphony Digital, Original Release Date: 1999, ESRB Rating: E
The developers of the popular Gran Turismo series only made one non-racing game so far. That game is Omega Boost for the original Playstation. This PSOne Classic hopeful is a rail shooter with a giant robot. Back in the day, it was one of the best looking games on the Playstation. Although Omega Boost may not be as popular as Gran Turismo, it does have the same polish and quality.
Publisher: Squaresoft, Developer: Square EA, Original Release Date: 1998, ESRB Rating: M
Before Square Enix began milking the Final Fantasy franchise, they were releasing one innovative game after another. One of their best titles is Parasite Eve. Mixing role-playing elements with survivor-horror gameplay, Parasite Eve was an instant classic. With the upcoming release of the third game in the series (The Third Birthday for PSP), it is in Square Enix’s best interest to bring the original Parasite Eve to the Playstation Store as a PSOne Classic.

Although it may not be as popular as the Final Fantasy games, Xenogears is often considered to be just as good if not better than the popular series by hardcore enthusiasts. Xenogears is simply epic: the storyline features deep and mature themes while battles are often fought using big robot suits. Not even the Xenosaga series, the spiritual successors, can match the unforgettable experience of Xenogears. Thus, Square Enix needs to release the game as a PSOne Classic on the Playstation Store so that many new gamers can play this one-of-a-kind game.
