Associated Content asked us to name our biggest 2009 New Year’s resolution and five ways to keep it. I was not planning on making any resolutions but, I need to. I absolutely hate water. I never drink the stuff. I do not how I am still alive. I have been this way since I was born. So, I have decided to make this important resolution to drink more water. Any water is good. I’m serious. Okay. Here are the five ways I plan to keep this important resolution.
First of all, I will start by buying bottled water. I will tolerate spring water. If I have to. Yes, I guess I have to. I do not like vitamin water, flavored water or any of that. Sparkling water? Nope. Well, if I keep a good supply of plain bottled spring water, I should, out of fear of wasting my money, at least drink it occasionally. It will bother my money conscience if I don’t drink it. I know it will. So, that should be a good way to make myself drink some water. At some time. Yeah!
Now, for the second way to keep this biggest New Year’s resolution for 2009. I will stop trying to make myself drink tap water. If I am on the verge of absolutely nothing else to hydrate me, I usually torture myself with tap water. Yuck. Yes, it is awful. Still, I don’t like water anyway. I will stop even trying to drink the stuff from the faucet. I pay for water every month and I will use it for bathing, showers, washing dishes. Amen.
The third way I plan to keep this New Year’s resolution is to make myself drink the water that they bring me, when I eat out. This one is going to be hard. I always ignore the water glass. Always. Sometimes, they do not bring water, though. Ha! Also, they may bring me tap water. Hmmm. Still, I will just stick to drinking the darn water that they bring me. Hey, it’s free. I will try to keep that in mind. It will help! Free water, drink up. Sigh. I wish that I liked water. I really do. I would do very well in a desert climate.
The fourth way I plan to keep my biggest New Year’s resolution for 2009, to drink more water, is to set a daily required one glass limit. That is a lot, I know but, I can do it. Some how, I will get that one glass in, during the course of the day. If I swallow some water, while brushing my teeth, that will count! If I swallow some water while taking my vitamins, that will count. It will all add up. Right? Right!
My fifth and final way to keep this New Year’s resolution is a fun one! I have created my own game to play. It is a drinking game! It will make water drinking much more enjoyable. The game is called “Guess what shot that was!” I will take several shot glasses, fill some with water and some with vodka or gin. I will mix them up and not know which shot glasses contain alcohol and which ones have water. Ha! I will get some water drinking in! I will enjoy it! I will drink every one! I will have lime and lemon wedges prepared and I will love this New Year’s water drinking resolution for 2009! Yes, I will. Now, I just can’t wait to get started. I may even lose count of how many glasses of water I drank. Imagine that? Wow! That’s progress!
