Paintball is easily the most popular of all of the so called extreme sports. In areas of the country such as Charlotte, North Carolina, with its young and growing population, temperate weather and wide open land, there is both a high demand and a high supply for paintball fields.
The following are the four best paintball fields in the Charlotte area.
Boss Paintball Fields
7498 Reed Mine Trail
Locust, North Carolina
This field was recently renamed from “Gold Diggers Paintball” to its current name “Boss Paintball Fields”.
This is one of the best laid out, managed and maintained paintball fields in the Charlotte area. It features five fields, including scenario fields, towns and forts and bunker play. It stresses safe play and is very family friendly.
In addition, they have a speedball field with lights for those interested in playing at night.
Boss Paintball is open Saturdays and Sunday for walkons and the general public, and can also be reserved for four-hour time blocks during the week for groups.
Behind Enemy Lines Paintball Fields
100 Wolf Pack Road
Gastonia, North Carolina
Behind Enemy Lines is an extremely large paintball field with a seemingly countless number of nooks and crannies and natural and man made features. They are planning an expansion to include speedball soon as well. This is a newer and more of a laid back place than some of the others. The prices are very low and the staff is friendly, though not highly structured. This is probably not really the best place for families, though experienced paintball players, or those new to it but not wanting to spend a lot of money will find it as one of the best options in the Charlotte area.
X-Treme Tactical Paintball Field
Waxhaw, North Carolina
This is one of the very best woodsball fields anywhere. X-Treme Tactical is on an almost perfect plot of land for woodsball; so often these fields can be forced or seem man made, but that is not the case at all with this one.
Typically, X-Treme is open only on Saturdays for the general public and on Sundays and some weekdays based on group reservations and private league play. The prices here are excellent and the staff is helpful, though be aware that this is a popular place and can be crowded.
Palmetto Hills Paintball
1481 S Anderson Road
Rock Hill, South Carolina
This is one of the few paintball facilities in the Charlotte area that is open seven days a week (weather permitting). They have a total of five fields, four of which are woodsball and one speedball. The speedball field leaves a bit to be desired, but the woodsball fields are excellent.
They also have one of the friendliest paintball staffs anywhere. They are well known for their knowledge of the game and for being proactive with assistance to advanced and beginner players alike.
