During the wintertime, sometimes it’s too cold for the kids to get out and play, and everybody seems to suffer from a slight case of cabin fever. Well, here are a few suggestions of what you can do with the kids on those cold, wintry days where it seems like there’s nothing left to do around the house.
Plaza Fiesta Mall- Located right across the street from Carowinds Theme Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Plaza Fiesta is the home to the largest indoor play area in Charlotte. Your kids will have a ball playing on this. The play area is completely closed in, so you don’t have to worry about your kids running outside of the play structure while you’re not looking. They also have a huge arcade. The cost is $2 per child. Here is the website for Plaza Fiesta with more info about the their hours and height restriction information.
Pineville Ice House- Located in Pineville, NC, minutes away away from the I-485 Pineville exit. When was the last time you went ice skating? This is a great activity for the parents and kids alike. You will need to check their website before you go to make sure they have public skating times.
Play area at Carolina Place Mall- Located right off of I-485 in Pineville. This is totally free fun. The jungle-gym themed play area is only for children 48″ and under. Bring the kids and let them have a ball running around while you sit and watch. There’s lots of seating for parents. This play area is located at the lower level, outside of Sears. It is open during mall hours.
Chuck E. Cheese– Yes, they’ve been around for awhile, but Chuck E. still has it. They’ve added new games and most games are still only $.25 a piece. A great place for kids of all ages. Make sure you check online for coupons before you go because there’s always a good deal online for playing and eating.
Ray’s Splash Planet- Located just outside of downtown Charlotte, this is a great place to take your kids. The younger kids can enjoy the small slides and shallow water, while the bigger kids can enjoy the large water slide. They also have a lazy river and a small pool with an ocean current that pulls you around (this is a family favorite). Here is their website with additional information.
Ride the Lynx downtown- You can either just ride the Lynx for fun or you can get off the Lynx and enjoy the different attractions of Charlotte. I recommend riding it until the final stop, 7th Street. Once you can get off, you are in walking distance to Discovery Place, ImagineOn, and the public library. Any of these activities are sure to keep your kids happy.
Any of these activities are sure to keep the kids and parents pleased when it’s too cool to play outside.
