Are you having trouble deciding what type large planter or pots to use in your garden this year? Here is a quick list of different types of large pots and large planters for both the beginning and novice gardeners.
Square Wooden Boxes
Square wooden boxes make beautiful large planters. Gardeners place them along the walking path throughout their landscaping. They come in various shapes and sizes, and would be easy to create yourself at a very minimal price. Adding Stencil Designs is just one way of accenting these wooden boxes.
These wooden boxes are similar to a crate. This large planter is excellent for planting trees. This large planter would not require a liner. The planter is constructed of various types of wood such as cedar and stainless steel hardware. Draining holes are located at the base of the large planters.
Window boxes add a certain charm to your window and give you a large planter. This type of planter is available in various dimensions and materials. All you have to do for these lovely large planters is mount the brackets to your windows. Liners are required for these window boxes.
Planter beds frame your flowers. They have posts at each corner generally extending about 6-8 inches into the ground for stability. They generally come in PVC or wood materials. You could paint a theme to match any ornamental lawn items in your yard.
Decorated Tire Planter
This large planter looks so crafty and cute. Find an old tire still on the rim that is ready to be tossed. Using a metallic gel pen, a white grease pencil or some other marker that will show up on the tire, draw a scallop or other theme shape pattern along the area where the white wall marking would generally be. You want your pattern to barely run past the white wall markings, maybe an inch. Keep your pattern wide. Using a very sharp knife and a knife sharpener cut out your pattern in the tire. Practice safety while handing the knife.
Once the tire is cut completely, turn it inside out. The large portion is the top of the pot and you can paint and decorate it to your heart’s content. This is a cost effective project for the gardener and makes a nice large pot for your flowers.
Wheel Barrows can give a nice rustic look and give you a large amount of space to do your painting. Bore some holes at the bottom of the wheel barrow before adding any dirt and potting soil mixture for planting. This makes a large pot for planting and looks nice on a large patio.
Self Watering System
Look at your local hardware store and see if you can invest in a self watering system for your large pots and planters, and reduce your watering chores while maintaining a beautiful healthy garden.
