Introducing your baby to solid foods is an important step in your babies’ life. Everything that is introduced to them is new and different. Babies soon discover that all foods are different in taste and consistency and choose their favorites. The good thing (and sometimes bad) about this is that their likes and dislikes change often, sometimes as much as daily! It is important to continue to offer a wide variety of foods with different textures and tastes in their diet.
Gerber has introduced a new line of spoons since I raised my children. Back then they had the tiny metal spoons but not the ones on the market today. I was really pleased to see that my daughter had picked up on how nice the Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons were. She bought several of these spoons for her new baby when he started on solid foods. It makes feeding a baby much easier and you won’t be scaring them by offering a stone cold spoon.
Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons
The Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons are regular metal spoons but smaller with a silicone coating on the spoon part used to put food into a babies’ mouth. The silicone coatings are different bright colors of blue, pink, red and green. The spoons can be purchased individually, in 2 packs, 4 packs and 6 packs. This review focuses on the 2 count package which retails for about $1.99.
The silicone coating on the spoons make feeding a baby much easier. The coating protects their mouths from the cold metal that is found in regular spoons. Babies tend to bite down on anything placed in their mouths and this coating also protects their gums and teeth. It is also not cold like a metal spoon would be.
My Thoughts on Gerber Soft Bite Spoons
The Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons are really nice. The handles are long, easy to hold and made for an adult to feed babies with. I would estimate the handle to be a good 6 inches long.
The colored silicone coatings make the spoons bright and colorful. Babies seem to like bright colors and this is just another way to make feeding a fun and exciting time of the day or night.
The Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons are dishwasher safe. Cleanup is also easy if you want to hand wash them. Dishwashing soap and warm water will do the trick.
I highly recommend the Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons. They help protect your babies’ mouth with a soft silicone coating on the tip of the spoons. This option is so much better than a cold metal spoon entering your babies’ mouth. I give Gerber Soft Bite Infant Spoons two thumbs up!
