Heli Loggers is a new series on TLC, showcasing one of the most dangerous jobs out there. I saw previews and these guys are hot! Heli Logging is similar to arborist (tree worker) work, except with a few twists: Heli logging occurs in generally two locations – the rainforest of Northern British Columbia, and the Rocky Mountains. The preview showed a rather feisty group of sexy loggers (all men; don’t women do heli logging?) in the midst of their job, and on breaks. There’s something about men working in trees that makes them the sexist blue-collar workers.
Anyways, the purpose of heli logging is to supply the world with lumber. But because the trees, that must be cut down, are located in mountainous areas of perilous terrain, the sexy heli loggers must be lowered into the terrain by a gigantic Boeing Chinook helicopter. These sexy men must battle not just terrain, but extreme weather conditions. This will prove to be far more exciting than what an online article can generate; trust me on that, because I saw the previews.
Heli Loggers begins Feb. 5 at 10 PM Eastern Time, and it will be full of action, as these sexy macho men dangle in trees with powerful chainsaws and slice away. Scenes showed giant trees being felled, crashing to the sloping mountain floor. If you like macho guys with tools, then Loggers is for you. Heli logging is dangerous because, obviously, the heli loggers might end up getting crushed by a falling tree. And these are enormous trees with massive trunks that the helicopter lifts away via steel cable.
Sexy heli loggers may fell a tree while standing on the ground and sawing it, so that it falls away from them with a thundering impact. Or, sexy heli loggers may be roped very high up in the tree and sawing the section above them. Thus, another risk in this sexy job is falling out of the tree. It happens. Tree falls are not uncommon among tree workers. A roping rigging system might not be adequate. A knot isn’t tied securely. Or, there is only one tie-in to the tree, and the tie-in fails for various reasons.
Chainsaw accidents can occur, and so can wood chipper accidents, though I don’t imagine a wood chipper is necessary for heli logging. Nevertheless, I may as well mention it: a tree worker’s entire body can be pulled right into a wood chipper and be reduced to literally mulch within 15 seconds. Read about that Here.
Anyways, I’m looking forward to watching some very sexy men on Heli Loggers.
