I think my abstract says it all, no? I study & understand history, therefore I am a political & social Conservative. It’s really just that damned simple. The social and political history of my nation has been one of largely Conservative values and principles, regardless of the Democrat/Republican labels.
When I read about the past events of our great nation, I am also getting an object lesson, a template if you will, for the future. I have it on good authority that to jump out of a second story window, flap your arms, and actually expect to remain airborne is to be an idiot of the most extreme variety. History teaches me that. Others who came before me tried it, and thus far, all have failed. So must I try it too? No thanks; history serves as an excellent object lesson.
I am getting about pissed off over all this “only government can fix our extreme problems.” As well I know I am listening to an obtuse soul when I hear “the free markets need to be reigned in,” or any similar sentiment. I am listening to a person who has bought, hook, line & sinker, the Leftist talking points. So, does history actually bear out the wishes and hopes of these Leftist mouthpieces?
Prior to FDR in the mid-thirties, government was a distant concept. Government did exceptionally little in the way of regulating, taxing, etc. And somehow, despite the absence of government involvement, our nation grew from colonial upstart to the biggest, baddest SOB on the block in about 150 years. Government did not do it – THE PEOPLE, OUR SOCIETY, AND OUR ECONOMIC SYSTEM WERE THE IMPETUS FOR THE SUCCESS. Gee, you’d think, based on the evidence history offers, that this concept I just forwarded would be one of the most obvious of all truths. Clearly the phrase “we hold these truths to be self-evident” should be our guide here.
But no. Liberalism doesn’t like our history because it is not Liberal in the 20th Century understanding of the word. That our Founder’s were in fact Liberals in their 18th Century governmental & societal concepts is 100% true, but that Liberalism was an entirely different concept in 1775. At that time to resist monarchy and form a government by and of the people was indeed a Liberal concept. But now Liberalism is really early 20th Century Progressivism, just a new name. To be “progressive” is to be big brained and forward thinking, eh? Horse hockey!
Let me tell you who the Progressives were. FDR was a Progressive. Yeah, I know, he’s the greatest, blah, blah, blah. FDR sent a ligation to the USSR in the mid 1930’s and that ligation returned extolling the virtues of Soviet Bolshevism. The told him that Soviet style Marxism was the way of the future; the most perfect societal & governmental system thus far envisioned, etc. So, what has history shown SINCE those idiots came back and said that more than 70 years ago?
Gee whiz . . . The USSR collapsed 55 years after those brilliant Progressives came back telling FDR how great the Commie pigs were. But that can’t be! How can the greatest and bestest ever sink like a rock in a pond? Ahh . . . it was them damned evil Capitalists! Yeah, Baby!
So I am Conservative NOT because I like the way it sounds. I am NOT Conservative because I just can’t handle change. I am Conservative because Conservatism was the generic position of this nation for the first 150 years of it’s existence. That generic position, an inherent desire to further what got us here, the status quo, is the history of my nation. I am about preserving my nation as it was constituted – NOT as some nefarious and ill-identified “Liberalism.”
Liberalism is easy – all ya gotta do is “feel.” Conservatism is tough – it requires reasoned thought. One must understand history. And no, I don’t refer to the redneck, Conservative – ya know, God, guns & guts, although I agree with that sentiment as well, but no, I mean educated Conservatism.
I understand history and economics. I see the correlation between them. I see as proof of my thesis, the formerly great nation the USA was. Not anymore though. Wanna know how this mess came to be? Government inserted itself between the parties seeking to make contracts.
Gov’t made regulations that banks MUST lend to the non-credit worthy. Gov’t made Fannie & Freddie guarantee those toxic assets. And when the housing bubble burst, a bubble which was created by gov’t forcing banks and Fannie & Freddie into this unwise situation which then drove housing prices thru the roof, the whole nation and economy is being made to pay for it.
Y’all wait and see. These incessant bailouts will bankrupt us, and sooner rather then later too. You wait. And when it happens the lying Leftist apologists will say “It’s all the deregulation that caused this.” That’s a lie. Do any of you know that the last Bush Administration was responsible for more pages of Federal regulation than any previous 4 year administration. The truth is we have way too many regulations, and that is the problem. Too damend much government inserting itself in the lives and transcations of the citizens, commerce and free enterprise.
Every regulation adds a layer of bureaucracy, and every layer of bureaucracy has a financial cost associated to it. Professional bureaucrats have to be paid too, ya know. And since government is the source of the problem, in what alternate universe will the cause of the problem, government, be the answer to the problem? Only in a Liberal universe does this stunted logic work, and not even then really. It’s just these people are so wedded to their wishful concept that they’d rather die than see their desires be put to the light of truth and fact. We live in a sad damned world.
Before FDR and the plethora of regulations that have become the USA, how did we manage to survive? How did we win WWI? WWII? Where was Obama the Magnificent? Our Constitution, our economy and our open arms society were the tools used to make this the greatest nation ever constituted.
So who are these “progressives” now? These are the hypocrites in media and those that have totally infiltrated the bureaucracy and the teachers unions. The US was the most educated and advanced society until Progressives got hold of the education system in the 50’s & 60’s. Our children used to be among the most educated in the world, but not now.
The worst school systems in the land are those in Democrat controlled cities – DC, NYC, Chicago, etc. And these are the school systems that have the highest expenditure per pupil too! Clearly money doesn’t make kids smarter, now does it? It’s because there is a Progressive agenda that promotes victim hood and all the rest. Our kids used to go to school to learn, and learn they did. Not now.
And the biggest hypocrites? Oh, the left wing media asslicks! I am listening to Rush streaming on my ‘puter at this very moment. Guess what the old boy did earlier? He played a montage of media type soundbites. They were in relation to this Obama Treasury designee, Timothy Geithner.
Seems Geithner had an illegal on his payroll. IMHO that’s no biggie. How can I or anyone possibly be responsible for an illegal being in the US illegally? If Juan Valdez works for Joe the Plumber, and Joe & Juan fix my crapper, am I responsible for Juan’s legal or illegeal status? No, of course not, nor is Mr. Geithner.
But Geithner also worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an independent contractor. That means the IMF payed him a gross salary and he, Geithner, was responsible for paying his own taxes. But apparently he took the salary and never paid his quarterlies like all of us self-employed do. Hell, I am a sister humping Conservative, but I know better than to work as an independent contractor and not pay the IRS their due.
And just today Rush played the hypocrite liars in media making excuses for Geithner’s not paying his quarterlies. One Lefty pundit, asslick, hypocrite lying mouthpiece after another said the following: “it’s a simple oversight,” or “a pretty common mistake,” blah, blah, blah. Rush played about 30 soundbites, from Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, George Stephanopoulos, and dozens of other mouthpieces. They all excused this as an innocent oversight. And maybe it was too. But what if it was willful and intentional?
When a Republican farts too loud here comes San Fran Nan and Harry Reid slithering from beneath some smelly dead thing to ridicule, defame and destroy the offender. But when one of their boys do it, why that’s just an oversight. Clinton lies under oath, gets impeached, and no biggie. But some mid level Bush Admin official ever employ an illegal and that person is clearly not fit for public office. In fact, let’s make sure they never work again.
And in the plethora of soundbites there was Harry Reid saying “Geithner is exceptionally smart and he’s the only one that can fix this TARP mess. We need him in Washington ASAP.” (I paraphrased).
Can y’all tell by the tone of my writings the last few days that I am getting fed up with these bastards? My biggest beef with these Leftist idiots, besides that fact that they are really too dumb to live, is that many are liars and hypocrites. If they commit an error, well clearly I am too dumb to see the nuance. But if my peeps do it, we should be drummed out of the Human race.
I would rather deal with a baby raping murderer than a liar and hypocrite.
And a word to the wise for you big thinkers out there. You’d damn sure better hope there ain’t an afterlife. If there is, when I get there I will spend eternity using those infamous size 12 steel-toed engineer boots always on my feet to kick your teeth down your throat for eternity. Every day and night I will torment your lying hypocritical ass. And if the Messiah himself (pick whichever one most offends you personally) gets between you and me I’ll use them boots on his jaw first, then I’m coming for you.
And that’s why I am a Conservative. Nice, huh? Sorry for the off-topic rant, but I am more a professional ranter than a professional writer. Hey, will one of you Liberal apologists pipe in and run cover for my shortcomings like so many of the media asslicks are doing for Geithner? It’s the least you can do.
