There is nothing worse than having a washing machine covered in old laundry detergent stains, or having splattered bleach all over the place. You may be surprised at how challenging it can be do get the laundry done neatly. There are a few ideas and suggestions that may help you to avoid having your laundry room in shambles.
The first suggestion when it comes to the bleach stains is to put the bleach into a spray bottle. You can usually purchase a plastic spray bottle at your local dollar store. Use a funnel to pour the bleach into the spray bottle. I would recommend the you put on an old shirt when doing this and use gloves. This will help to avoid getting your hands covered in bleach. When pouring the bottle use two hands. One hand to hold the top of the bleach bottle by the handle, and the other hand should support the bottom of the bleach bottle. You will want to make sure the funnel and spray bottle are on a flat surface. You can place them in the bathroom sink to keep them from moving. Slowly pour the bleach into the spray bottle. You will only need to pour about two big gulps (two tablespoons) into the bottle. Then mix the bleach in the spray bottle with about a half cup of water.
Once you have placed some bleach in your spray bottle you can move on to the laundry. I would recommend putting the bleach into the spray bottle as soon as you purchase the bleach. You don’t need to fill it up but put just enough for a few loads of laundry. When you are ready to do the laundry you will want to make sure that you spray the bleach, directly into the machine. It is best to allow the machine to fill up with water first at least half way before you add the bleach. Then gently spray the bleach into the water. You will want to put at least three squirts into the water. This should be an efficient amount to get the stains out of your clothing and give them that fresh feeling.
When it comes to the laundry detergent I have found it best to use the same technique as you did with the bleach. Instead of putting it into a spray bottle you will just want to take your time and slowly pour it into the cap. If you have a large laundry bottle try tilting it a bit and allowing it to slowly pour out. Since the cups that come with the laundry detergent are usually pretty small I would recommend placing a few towels around the small cup so that it does not tip over when you are pouring the detergent. These are just a few tips and suggestions that may help you to avoid large messes and spills when you are trying to get your laundry done.
