Don’t you hate getting those annoying calls on your cell phone? It’s bad enough when you get them on your landline phone, but to me it’s even worse to get them on my cell phone. I carry my cell phone for emergencies, or to make long distance calls which are free when I use my cell phone. I don’t appreciate getting those unsolicited calls.
Three times last month I got a telemarketer call stating that my warranty was about to expire on my vehicle and I should buy extra coverage through this company. Now, I don’t even have a car anymore, and when I did it didn’t have a warranty on it, because it was a 1993 clunk-mobile. So they had no reason to call me. The caller was just cold calling numbers on a list and trying to make sales. I told this person time and time again to take my number off his list. Each time he’d say he would, and then the following week I would get another call.
Well, a very good friend of mine showed me a great way to block unwanted calls on my cell phone. I tried her method and it works perfectly. Why didn’t I ever think of this myself is beyond me, but I digress. Whether the caller is a bill collector that is bothering you at all times of day, or it is a number of aggressive telemarketers ruining your day, you can finally put a stop to it.
You know how you assign names to your numbers, and assign ring tones to those names? You might give your mom one ring, and your dad another ring, and your significant other another ring. Just like your mom’s number would be listed as “mom” or your dad’s phone listed as “dad,” you can assign those nuisance calls a name also. You might assign them the name “blocked calls.” You can have any number of numbers listed under on name. Then assign that name a ring tone.
If you have a way to restrict calling from unknown numbers, go into settings and set those restrictions. Many phones have a rejection list that you can program those unwanted numbers into. If you don’t have that feature on your phone you will just need to call your cell phone provider and ask them to block all unknown or private numbers. Usually when a call comes in that says “unknown caller” or “Private number” those are either bill collectors or telemarketers. You can have those numbers blocked by your phone company. If you don’t want to do that, when a call comes in as unknown, just click the “decline” button which is also the “end call” button. Then enter that number into the “block” list on your phone that has the silent ring tone assigned to it.
If you have AT&T you can sign up for the Smart Limits service. This allows you to block unwanted callers. It also works to block unwanted people from texting you.
