Kids grow so fast that sneakers need to be replaced all too often. The more children you have to more sneakers and shoes you will have to buy just to keep up with their growth spurts.
What is a parent to do when the sneakers fit great but are no longer looking new and bright? No parent likes to see dingy and dirty looking sneakers or shoes on their child. Many parents go out and buy a new pair of shoes for their child. They throw the old and dingy ones away. Do they realize they are throwing away both money and a perfectly good pair of sneakers?
So long as the sneaker is not damaged or torn it can be made to look brand new again. Save the sneakers and the shoes! Don’t spend money on new when you can make the old new again.
Here is what to do. Get the pair of sneakers or shoes and take them to the kitchen sink. Use the toothbrush you keep for cleaning small spots, and a scrubbing kitchen sponge. The cleaner of choice should be Comit. Comit is a powdered bleach cleaner that will remove all stains from both the sneaker and the rubber soul.
Remove the laces and then fully wet the first sneaker. Use very hot water. Once the sneaker or shoe is thoroughly wet set it aside and do the same to the next. Once they are both totally wet with very hot water sprinkle on a good coating of the Comit cleaner. Let sit for ten minutes.
Once the cleaner has set on the sneakers for ten minutes it’s time to scrub. First use the scrubbing side of a kitchen sponge. Grasp the sneaker firmly and scrub every little spot. It takes about five minutes to really scrub a sneaker. When you’re done with the first one move on the other and give it the same treatment.
When both sneakers have been scrubbed well with the scrubbing sponge they can be rinsed. This is the first rinsing. You will see how much brighter the sneakers are already. Don’t worry about rinsing all of the cleaner out of the sneakers at this point. Simply rinse where you scrubbed so that you can see the progress so far.
After your child’s sneakers have been rinsed it’s time to scrub one more time. Look at the sneakers carefully and see where more scrubbing is needed. Apply more cleaner to these areas and scrub with the toothbrush. Once your done wash the laces in your hands. Rub them together and rinse them well.
All of the dirt is gone. The dinginess is now brightness. The sneakers look brand new again. Rinse them very well after you are done with the toothbrush. Once they are free of the cleaner take a towel and pat them well to absorb excess water. Set the sneakers up and allow them twenty-four hours to dry. Once they are dry show them to your child and wait for their response! They’ll be amazed that their sneakers or shoes look brand new again. You’ll have saved money too.
