If you are marketing a product on the Internet and not utilizing forums then you are missing out on a very substantial piece of the online marketing pie. Forums provide many great benefits which can easily help you to find and convert new leads. Learn how to market your product with forums here.

Forum marketing is so great for a few different reasons. First of all forums are usually niche based, which means your target demographic is already all bundled up together in one place. Second you have the ability to come off as a real person, not some sales pitch, which allows you to build trust with your target audience and convert at much higher rates.

The first step in forum marketing is to find a forum based around whatever demographic your product caters too. This can be as broad as teenagers or as narrow as garden weed fertilizers, there are really forums for everything. Narrowing down the forum that you choose to market on can greatly increase conversion percentages. Once you have found a suitable forum go ahead and register an account.

From here you have two approaches to marketing on this forum, the first is by establishing yourself as an expert and the second is by actually advertising your product directly. Establishing yourself as in expert is a bit more time consuming but you do not risk getting banned and you will most likely convert better.

To establish yourself as an expert simply put a link to your product in your signature, with a good ‘link bait’ anchor text. Now go through the forums and provide useful posts. Answer questions related to your topic and make sure your information is right. If you help people out they will remember it and will be more apt to click your signature link. Another great benefit of this is that most forum threads show up on Google. This means that a person who is not even a member of the forums may have the same question that you answered, after a search they find your advice and see your product link. This is a great way to make sales.

The second method, direct forum advertising, is much quicker but may also be perceived as spam, especially if you fail to offer quality posts. This involves answering people’s questions, when relevant, by directing them straight to your product’s webpage. Basically you soft sell the idea that your product is the answer to their situation.
