Who says that you have to spend a lot of money in order to redecorate your home for the spring months. You can start at the end of winter to give your home a nice spring makeover. To get started there are several different ways that you can do this without spending any money. First de-clutter your home. With spring, it’s all about open space. You want to see as much open space in your home as possible.
I have found it best to work in one room at a time. Starting with the living room, you will want to try moving the furniture around a bit to give it a different feel and look. You will be surprised at how just shifting a few things around can offer you more space, and give your home a spring feel. Your next step would be to freshen up your furniture. Giving your furniture a good cleaning will help to give it a fresh spring look. More is involved than just vacuuming out your couch. You will want to see if any of your couch pillows are starting to sag. This happens to most couches over a period of time. You can easily re-fluff the pillows on your couch. For the little pillows you can just spend a few minutes tossing them around in a circular motion. For the larger pillows you can shake them, and rotate them. The general idea is to move the stuffing inside the pillow so that it can be fluffy again. Rotating the pillows will keep one area of the couch from looking too run down.
Next would be the windows. I have always found it to be a good idea to take down your curtains at the start of spring and give them a good cleaning in the washing machine. Be sure to check and see whether or not your curtains are machine washable. Some curtains will have to be washed by hand. Once your curtains are washed and dried you can hang them back up. If you have blinds under the curtains, you will need to wash these thoroughly before hanging the curtains back up. This means taking the blinds down, soaking them in water and letting them dry. When it is dry hang them back up. You are basically doing a bit of spring cleaning and re-decorating.
The same can be done for each room. Next check your storage bins and closets to see if you have any unused items lying around. You may find some picture frames, containers, flower pots. If you have some old flower pots lying around why not purchase some seeds, and dirt at your local gardening center. These are very inexpensive to buy, and is a nice way to add some color to your home for the spring months. Hanging flower pots are also a nice addition to the home.
For the kitchen you can try getting rid of any items that you don’t use. For example, during the winter months, many do a lot of baking, and a lot of soup making. This requires lots of pans and pots. As the weather begins to get warmer you will be using these items a lot less. Instead of keeping them in the kitchen why not store them away. Instead of having several in your kitchen you can keep just one or two items. For the bedroom why not change the spreads on the bed. You can purchase a thin spring spred, with lots of colors. If you visit your local fabric store , you can even purchase one of these items. These are just a few suggestions and ideas on how to give your home a fresh spring look on a budget.
