Re-using old spice jars can be a fun project. If you have children, why not get them involved in this fun project. Many don’t realize exactly how many uses old spice jars really have. The first thing that you will need to do is find a place where you can store all of the jars, if you don’t have the time to get started right away putting them to use. Once you are done with your spice jar, you will want to wash it out thoroughly with warm water and soap. Remove the label from the spice or seasoning jar. I have found it to be a good idea to allow the seasoning jar to soak over night. You may also want to add a drop of bleach to the water, while it is soaking. This will help to remove any strong spice smell that may be left in the bottle. The next day rinse out the jar good, and allow to dry.
Now you are all ready to re-use your spice or seasoning jar. The first suggested use for your spice jar is a paper clip holder. If you have an at home office there is nothing worse than having small paper clips scattered all over the place. These are good items to place in an old spice jar. Once it is full you can place it on your desk, with the rest of your office supplies. Another suggestion is to use the spice jar to hold staples. I have always had a problem with getting staples all over the place. Using spice jars to hold the extra staples is a great way to keep your office space neat and organized.
If you have children, you probably have tons of ways to use those old spice jars. I have found that using the smaller sized spice jars for finger paints works well. You will also be ale to save a bit of money. If you visit your local arts and craft store, you will find large bottles of finger paint. The larger bottles are usually pretty inexpensive. You can then pour some of the finger paint into the smaller spice jars. Since the smaller spice or seasoning containers can fit in the palm of your hand, they are very easy for your child to use. You can keep a different color in each container and store them in a cool place, that is not readily accessible for your child.
You can also make some fun sand art projects with your child. You can pick up the different colored sand at your local arts and crafts store. You can then layer the sand to make a beautiful picture or piece of art in the small containers. This particular project will take a bit of patience. You will want to pour just the right amount of each color into the sand to make the picture. This is a great project that you can do along with your child. When the art project is all done you can display their work in different places around the house. These are just a few ideas and suggestions on how you can re- use your old seasoning and spice jars.
