We’ve all heard the stories of zombies. Scary, ravenous, and hungry, everyone’s in danger from them. Most of us feel that if the big invasion ever comes, we won’t be able to hide anywhere. That’s not always necessarily true. For those who can’t make it to the available safe sites, however, it is possible to survive right where you are.
Whether you’re in a house, apartment complex, or any other place, you can make certain modifications to enhance security. First, fortify your door. Whether you nail additional boards up for backing, or barricade the opening with heavy furniture, both will serve adequately. Next, block your windows so you can’t be ambushed. A further concern for those with dry wall or thin siding should be reinforcing your walls as well, if time and resources permit. You could even use the spoiled carcasses of your buddies to do this.
Since services will likely be suspended for a time, methods of disposing of your trash and personal waste should be established. In addition, methods of water and food gathering will be important. Rain barrels are recommended, as are small gardens kept in-house. If at all possible, keep seeds from fruits and vegetables to plant in case of long term necessity.
While it is dangerous and not recommended, venturing outside your safety zone may become necessary. With your perimeter secured, personal safety when not at home is paramount. Firearms are a luxury, but can assist in your survival. .22 caliber is recommended, as are revolvers for their simplicity and ease of use even for the untrained and inexperienced. Hand weapons should always be carried as a back up option, with straight blades taking a priority.
Other things to keep in mind when not in a safe zone: you should move carefully and in full daylight, trying to stay in pairs. If at all possible, stay low and quiet as to not draw attention to yourself. Always carry a backpack or case of some variety to carry back supplies while leaving one or both hands free. You might need them for other activities.
If these suggestions are followed, you will most likely be able to survive this crisis. Once more, we would like to remind all persons reading this announcement that the above are suggestions, and only for last resort scenarios. If at all possible, make your way to a government safe zone perimeter, and allow the federal forces to deal with the crisis. To find a list of such zones, tune in to your local radio station as a list of announcements will be broadcast for those in the populace who were not evacuated.
And last but not least–don’t bathe. If you smell like a zombie then they will think of you as like kind.
