As you may or may not have heard Google has released a new web browser of their own called Google Chrome. While it is not yet a huge competitor for either Internet Explorer or Firefox, the two leading Web browsers, the Google Chrome browser is slated to release a whole slew of new, highly competitive, features in short time. These features may help Google to further dominate the Internet by running one of the most successful web browsers available.
One of the largest, and most anticipated, features that the Google Chrome browser plans to unleash is extensions. Extensions are Google Chrome’s version of Fireox’s add-ons. Designed as open source anyone will be able to design a Google Chrome extension to provide a desired feature within their browser. In addition it is anticipated that there will be a ton of free, and readily available, extensions for Google Chrome just as there currently are for Firefox. One of the most surprising extension slated to be released, especially with Google’s high dependence and profits related to ad revenue, is an ad blocker extension. Releasing an extension such as this, which can hurt their ad revenues in the long run, is a great indicator of just how devoted Google is to making the Google Chrome web browser the number one browser available.
Another one of the great features that the Google Chrome web browser has unleashed is its incorporation of social networking. Since Google owns sites such as YouTube it can kill two birds with one stone by integrating YouTube videos into its Chrome web browser. Not only does this provide the user with media that comes from the masses, rather than mainstream media, it also helps bring traffic to Google’s YouTube video sharing site. This feature is highly anticipated, and already available in limited functionality, due to the recent trend of people wanting what the masses say is popular, not what corporations or mainstream media and advertising say is popular.
A favorite feature of many that Google Chrome has revolutionized its application shortcuts. These allow you to use web applications without having to even load your Google Chrome browser. This is one feature that other web browsers have yet to properly implement. It is extremely convenient to use Google Chrome to handle web applications without even having to run Google Chrome. It is quicker, cleaner, and more efficient.
The Google Chrome web browser is doing a great job of taking the best features, both from Internet Explorer and Firefox, and combining them with its very own new features that it is continually unleashing. At the same time Google Chrome has done a good job of deciding which features users do not like and cutting them. While Google Chrome is not all that it promises to be just yet, it shows immense potential to be the best web browser ever.
